Sooooo... Nova Music?

I had emailed them the 1000th time about my "never-arriving, but we swear we're getting them next week" Minibrute and I FINALLY get a new response...

"Please bare with us as we settle our assets" or some such.

Huh?

Did they get bought? Going chapter 11? Just doing inventory?

I love Nova Music (at least I love that they lov synths), but what's going on? Anyone know?

Dude. Seriously? That's their response? More than I've gotten from anyone lately. I pre-ordered from Sweetwater and they called me (I hate when they do this) and said there is a long waiting list with some sensationalizing sales clown- or sales engineer. This was months ago. LOL
Seriously, are you worried? I am. I hope the Brute is not a colossal fail. There has been little evidence of a resolution.
Moreover, a few have been sighted on Ebay for $100+ over regular price with "rare synth" in the body.
I don't think the retailers are the issue. I think it's Arturia. I hope they didn't bite off more than they could chew.
Not good my friend. Not good at all.

Send a message via AIM to Osc1lfo
That is an odd email - perhaps the writer has a native language other than English? Perhaps they are from a strange and distant land like New Jersey.

The Minibrute is in huge demand, and it would be difficult for any company to scale up production and manage distribution to meet that demand.

If I wanted my 'Brute faster, I'd start by sending a polite note with my information and where I made my purchase, and send it to Arturia, attached to a case of high quality beer. My shipment just might turn up...

I believe they partnered with another local business called Kraft Music. If you're tired of waiting for an MB, hit up Guitar Center.

I had some absolutely TERRIBLE customer service trying to return a defective item from them, no body would answer the phone or promise to do anything for weeks.

Just recently got an email from "Dan" who says they have new owners and are going to be rebranding the web site and deciding what to carry -- and that they just bought the name and so forth.

What that means for existing orders I have no idea, but that explains past issues with them.

This really sucks....or it MIGHT. I've always been supremely satisfied with Novamusik's service. Their prices have been great, their shipping fast, and they always sent some nice swag (t-shirts, toques, and locally-roasted coffee). I've spent thousands with them and certainly wish them the best.

I wrote them a few weeks back in regards to the boomstars and this is what I got in response. "The assets of Nova Musik are being transferred to a new company. Rest assured that the new staff will take very good care of you and meet all of your needs. Please be patient as the transition could take a few days. We will be back up and running soon."

That explains a lot. I noticed a couple of days ago, that a lot of items listed on their web site has a "not in stock" status. The site seems a bit in disarray, because they used to do frequent updates. I hope they continue the business in whatever form it may be.

I had problems with novamusik in the last months, I ordered something supposedly in stock, that turned out to be backorder. I had to call them (zero email answer, emailed them 4 times over a month) twice to actually learn that the item was backorder. Second time they simply said it would be better if they gave me a refund and they did.

I wonder if commissioning all of those special edition Moogs did them in...

Yeah Nova Musik was bought out. I had a board that died a couple of weeks ago and called to get a copy of my invoice from last winter for proof of purchase date. The guy on the phone said that it was on the computer system at the original Nova Musik and that he didn't have it on his system. He mentioned that they were bought out and were going to shut the original sytem once they run out of inventory. I don't know who bought them but Kraft is up there too so that sounds reasonable.

For me he said tht it might take a day or two to email the invoice from the old location. Well in reality they sent it over about 15 to 20 minutes after I requested it. Great service still. I hope that they keep it up with the new owner.

Dirty Halo, give them a call? (Nova, not Kraft ) Seems one of those places hopelessly bogged down in email, so calling would get you further, faster.

+1. I've been ordering from NM for over a decade and have had fantastic experiences each time. Sweet prices, nifty swag, fast shipping, and great phone support (phones are always better than email!). Here's hoping the new owners keep doing things right!

When was the last time you ordered? They are owned by someone new now.

(I too ordered from them and loved Nova Music with many MANY previous purchases... the new owners may be great too, but tthey dropped the ball on anyone in the transition).

Is service from Nova Musik better since they merged with Kraft? I am really curious and would like to read your opinions. I stopped ordering from Nova Musik a couple years ago. They kept shipping me used equipment and charging for new equipment. Coincidentally, at this very moment I am in the midst of returning an item to one of the well known online music retailers. The salesman has told me in advance that they intend to sell the used item to someone else as a "brand new" item.

If the new owners add payment plans like Zzounds, Sweetwater or American Musical, I'm going to be in for a world of hurt (in a very gearslutty way).
