Oddessy II NICE- Trash Find, help

Ok, so I'm driving down the road and notice something that looks like gear on the street in front of a house with the trash. It's an Oddessy II synth, wrapped in plastic. I was like, "what the?" I looked it up on my iphone, put it in the car and now its here at my place. Its dusty and musty but in very clean shape. I hooked it up using the LOW OUTPUT which is a regular guitar type jack, and I get sound out of it, but the sound is very quiet. I need to crank the volume on the stereo system. My buddy hooked it the same way into his mixer and the results are the same. I get all the high notes, super low volume. The HIGH OUTPUT jack looks like an RCA jack, but I don't know what it is. I don't know how to hook it up, but at low volumes everything seems to work. I of course flipped every switch on the thing. If it works its the trash find of the century for me. If you can offer any advice on how to get the going let me know. I plan on bringing it to a used music store and letting them have at it, even if I need to tell them I'm thinking of selling it to them(not). I just saw a Mark I go for 1500 bucks on ebay and it needs work. That was the actual winning bid. Let me know guys. You'll either hate me or love the fact that I found this. I think I'll knock on the door and see what else they have .

Forget a music store, they will either break it or steal it from you. Find a proper analog keyboard tech in your area, and get it serviced / cleaned / restored. In good condition, they are worth a lot more than $1500. It probably just needs washed, the sliders lubed, and a check over to make sure the rest is ok. Get the right output connection for the 'high' output.

Nice!!!!!!!

Try to find some Odyssey patch sheets online, then set up your piece of garbage (oops, I mean Odyssey) to match. The Odyssey can be a bit strange to program at first and it's easy to set up a patch that makes it sound broken.

And don't muck with the sliders if they're stiff. You should get them cleaned and lubed before sliding them around. Otherwise you risk damaging the delicate carbon traces inside of them.

Just get an RCA to 1/4" cable, or whatever connector you need to plug it into your mixer and try it. Excellent find, congrats! I can't believe that in 2012 - when everyone and their grandmother has internet access - that someone wouldn't take 10 seconds to look at Ebay to find out how much something might be worth before throwing it in a dumpster. Anyway, their loss is your gain! If everything on it works, a mkII could be worth around a grand or maybe even a little more.

I got my AX80 that way... Grandma selling stuff in her attic. Got it for $50 and she thought she had scored. I'm not so mean to take advantage of her, and more than hinted it was worth more, but she was happy with the fifty.

No cs80 tho, sadly.
Or a gx1, but I'd have no idea on how to even move that one without wrecking it.

hah... yeah, why didn't I take pictures of that! Very nice guy who was moving and just wanted to get rid of some stuff. I met him through my friend who bought an MG-1 off of him. He gave me a ton of stuff when I went to pick it up, including the Arp, which was non-functional at the time (but works now).
