Finding Hidden parameters

How does one find the hidden parameters in the SY22/TG33?

I purchased (via donation) a great (IMO) SY22 editor from Plompy Software. I was pleasantly surprised to find some interesting features taking advantage of the hidden parameters. Hear are some of the features: Harmonic control (c:m ratio I think), Temperament, Fixed Frequency, C M LFO selection, EG modulator).

I originally became aware of the notion of hidden parameters from Sealed's page regarding the TG33. One intriguing parameter he found was the "alg": 0 = serial, and 1 = parallel (two Carriers) (see YAMAHA TG33: New SoundDiver Editors). He was is also able to do some realtime modulation of the FM parameters (listen to samples at YAMAHA TG33: Sound demo - unfortunately this is not possible with the SY22 because you cannot control a particular parameter via SYSEX, you have to change the parameter and upload the whole voice. This takes too much time to do realtime manipulation). In the case of the TG33, I downloaded the manual with the MIDI specs and I could not locate any information regarding the alg parameter.

So if these parameters are undocumented, how do people find them?

Thanks!

Pete

No. I scoured the manual for it.

Are you asking just out of interest or do you need the actual sysex strings for yourself? If you need the sysex strings you could use Sysex Librarian or Logic to listen to the sysex strings coming out of the Editor.

That's a good approach, except I don't have a TG33. I don't have any pressing need for this. I was also just wondering, in general, how are hidden parameters found? Are they stumbled across?
