help, want re-evaluate my rig

Hey, it's that time again when I'm resisting the urge to sell it all and start over.

I want at least 1 piece for warm vintage analog sound and a few softsynths for more complex digital sounds.

I love Vangelis & Carpenter.
I like my MEK & the SQ-80 together. I only played a real Prophet 5 once and loved it, but I like the tone of the MEK and would like to get an Evolver rack to add polyphony to my MEK. I feel like that would fulfill my P5 desires (correct me if I'm wrong).
Been looking at a virtual VP-330, I think I'd be content with it.
Also thinking about getting a Blofeld again, a friend for my Fizmo.

I have:
Hartman Neuron (ready to sell it)
Eurorack Modular (5 rows, lots of DIY stuff)
Nordwave (using it as a sampler)
Virus TI (ready to sell it)
MEK
Fizmo rack
SQ-80
MG-1 (sounds awesome through my Traynor TS-80, & hopefully soon to be mod'ed)
Midibox SID (6582)
ESX-1
Machinedrum

Do it. I just pretty much did the same thing about 2 months ago. I'm loving it.

Have you considered keeping the modular and maybe adding to it....I'd keep the SID stuff.. I'm going to be picking up a Sid station again...shouldn't have sold the last one...they bring a completely new sound . The Virus , i'd keep that. Lot's there. Don't get hung up on chasing a holy grail of vintage, but grab one...possibly a minimoog or an APR and see what it does for you.

sometimes less is more (hate to sound so cliche)....and again...quality not quantity. The machines are only mediums for your talnet and creativity....but they can also be impetus and inspiration....That's what they can also bring , and that is impossible to define.

If you like the sound of the MEK don't sweat how close to a p5 it is or isn't. You might want to consider the tempest over an evolver rack though, especially if you're looking at used. It has classic drum samples in addition to the evolver waves and can be used as a 6 voice synth.

Perhaps get an Ensoniq sampler or VFX SD1 as a friend to your fizmo (or even replacement!). Not as deep maybe, but the interfaces are MUCH more transparent.

The Nord wave is sampler? Thoughts on the Octatrack? How much do you like the machine drum?

If you have a modular and like it, I'd focus on working with more familiar and immediate gear. You can always run in into the modular to get tonal variety.

Neuron, Fizmo, and Virus don't have the most immediate interfaces and now that I think about it even the MEK requires a fair amount of digging. And modulars while hands on re very much not immediate, either. They sort of compete with each other for your focus. Personally, I have the same problem with software and for me the solution was more abut changing my workspace to make it more ergonomic, easier and more comfortable to really stay with one synth and dig in and then switch to the next.

I would like to add a poly evolver rack to my setup together with my evoker desktop, I think you'll be in poly paradise and don't think about a p5 for some time. But the evolver rack is almost impossible to find :( I never find one used

I had no idea...
I wish these decisions could be simple and easy. Now that I saw this:

I'm really wanting a Tempest now. Thanks for complicating my life.

Also, just recently had the privilege of hearing a Prophet 5 through an Eventide Space and a Strymon Timeline O_O
I thought my dick was going to fall off.
a.m.a.z.i.n.g.
Nevermind the Neuron and my Virus, now I'm willing to sell my house.
But to be fair, an M1 would sound amazing through those effects.

I think you should definitely look into effects before selling everything off. I put my Rhodes Mark I through an Eventide Space, ModFactor, and TimeFactor and I can tell you it is an amazing thing. Pretty much every synth you have will benefit greatly from top quality effects and the beauty is that they can be used in so many different ways. If you want to go lower cost and stay ITB for effects then you can go pretty far with the Valhalla DSP stuff.

If you decide to sell the midibox SID unit I would be interested.

Hey dude what version TI do you have? I'm looking to buy one in the next couple of weeks so this might be good timing. Located in the US?

you are lacking a basic analog poly. Juno 60 or prophet 08 or prophet 600 are in the cards.

DO NOT sell your MG-1. You will only regret it. That cheap little Rat Shack Moog is full of magic.

Keep the Traynor, too.
