So does this mean Korg will come out with a complementary synth called KREME that will have everything but PCM-based synthesis in it?

There are Drug Companies who manufacture medication to combat "digitalis toxicity". Some are: DSI, Doepfer, MacBeth, MFB, Moog, Studio Electronics, Arturia. Lots of modular companies producing generic meds. We should maybe support these outfits instead of waiting for Godot, even if some of their synths don't have such critical features such as " pre-gain on the filter". Otherwise be prepared to suffer from larger, perhaps permanent, bouts of digitalis.

Isn't there another announcement in a few hours' time (19:30 here in the UK) or am I misinformed? Perhaps there is something more interesting than a few midcycle model rehashes.
Anyway, if Korg can't see the interest that a Minibrute competitor (or fuller featured monotron) would generate... by gauging the forums, visiting the internet, reading customer feedback, seeing the Arturia frenzy at NAMM..... Well, perhaps they don't deserve to make one.

"Indeed we have several new ideas, but we can't make our mind up. So we tried asking for advice to the potential clients".
"We use Photoshop for testing the ideas on the Internet. Publishing a picture and a specification sheet is way cheaper than, say, really producing analogue polysynths, or Kronos rack modules, or a new and better mousetrap, teh waiting for clients to buy them".
"And photoshop models have a consistely lower failure rate on - say- keybeds. That makes for better image campaigns".
"Today much of the strategic work is done in simulators. I wish my grandfather, Try-and-Eror Kamikaze, the unsung hero of Midway, could have used them instead of diving himself on the Yorktown THREE times in order to test a new diving maneuver he had just invented. It was a huge loss in terms of Zeros".
"The maneuver was later perfected by another bomber pilot using paper planes. He is still alive and well, he is in his late 90s, has 23 grandchildren".
"Unfortunately he moved to America and won't work for Korg. He met Ray Kurzweil at a scientific Congress, and he contributed to Kurzweil's projects on longevity his famous idea: "First Thing, in Order to Live to 120, Try Not To GET Killed at 20"".
"Our branch on the family has always been great at Suicide Missions. I am very proud of the responsibility Korg has been placing on me. I hope I won't disappoint them again".

If they sold a MOD7 Engine with nothing else (maybe FX) for a reasonable price I would have stopped saving money instantly.
If they would have thrown in the string thingie or the VA thingie from the Kronos with that I might even have joined a line waiting in front of a shop.
Analog could have been nice, an Electribe with a bit more complexity would have been great.
As is, the arranger is maybe the most interesting product. Even the Kitty thingie misses Big plastic 3D Stuff and a lot of pink.

It seems to be, that Korg threw a 10th birthday party for its "micro" line. They invited the public to celebrate, and threw in some party favors, like special color versions of some micro gear. They also included a twist on the synth that started it all, the microKORG XL+. There's some party games, like a video contest, and other little things. They also used this time to unveil a new keyboard workstation, just adding to the festivities.
You were invited. This is the microKORG's birthday party, and it's a celebration of what turned out to be a successful idea. But you showed up, early, snatched up your bag of gifts, and started complaining about how it's all junk. "Nothing new here! Where's my cake! I WANT CAKE!"
They didn't even have the celebration with you yet, and already you're booing saying it was lame. The message you heard was in Japanese, for someone else. You don't even know what is going to be said in your language. You assume any announcement has to be about you. Well maybe it's not.
Maybe Korg is excited for them. Because although they are a corporation, they employ people, and those people spent a big part of their lives working to bring you the microKORG, and other micro products. It's not easy to come up with an idea, and work out all the practical details to make it possible to purchase all over the world in local shops.
I don't know what the party is going to be. I only know what happened in Japan. But I do know, that they promised me nothing, and if they want to celebrate 10 years of micro-success, while throwing in some goodies, then there's nothing to cry about. I wasn't aware it's been 10 years already. That counts as a major announcement. Korg USA - live streaming video powered by Livestream |

I start thinking I could get one. I like the M1.
Let me see:
Korg t3 = 300 euros
display = 500 euros (Do I need it? No)
further enhancements = 500 euros
Price = 1300 euros
Did I correctly guess the price?

just saw the price now:
1000 euros
I retract everything I said about kamikazes and the like.
A full-stuffed, UPDATED Korg rompler for 1000 euros is a decent deal.
640 Programs and 288 Combinations
Effects with 5 Inserts, 2 Master, and 1 Total FX, plus per track/timbre EQ
I don't need one, i is not a top-of-the line synth, but as far as romplers go, and considering you could spend 400 euros to buy and refurbish a bad T3, or 500/550 for a triton...
... it is a decent deal.
Of course: no modeling, no VA, no mention of vocoder or external sound processing, rompled B3...
The pc3 is still a bargain in comparison

"no aftertouch": I shouldn't have corrected my initial stand.
I'll keep my T3.
And: there's no match with the Pc3. No way. Less physical controls, less synthesis depth...
It IS an m50 after all.
Ok, my "Failuro Kamikaze" joke is back in vogue

I hope he doesn't feel embarrassed about it. We've all been sick and/or nervous before. It's just unfortunate he had to suffer through it. I sensed him trying hard to hold it together, so I felt physically ill too and couldn't concentrate on anything he was saying. I'm just glad he finished and could get away! Hope you feel better now.
But you have to admit it's kind of funny how disastrous this is turning out to be so far. First people were building up for days, expecting a major announcement to happen today... but we didn't realize they were going to do it local in Japan first, so really the announcement was yesterday.
There were only 500 viewers for this, and everything was awkward, with people walking in front of the camera, and the guy demoing the keyboard trying to find things to say.
... and now it's over?
It was only 19 minutes long. They said nothing about anything. They just appeared, talked about the Krome, played it for a few minutes, and said that's it, the end. Gone.
? They didn't even talk about how it was 10 years of micro, and didn't mention a microKORG XL+. So really the announcement was the Japan one, so why bother USA?
Maybe they had to cancel early because he wasn't feeling well? Couldn't someone else just step in to take over? It doesn't seem like it was worth streaming this at all.
