How about a proper 6 (or more) voice analog groovebox in the style of an electribe emx?

Two forumers probaly nailed it:
MICROKRONOS + MAXITRIBE
i.e.,
a 88-(partly stuck)-keys version of the "monotron" series,
with 128 analogue voice polyphony,
minikeys
75 pounds weight
a 256gigabyte piano and a 512 giga brass and wind streaming sample library, which can be filtered through its analogue section,
and a 12" cooling fan whose noise overwhelms anything the synth can produce
and a 25-minutes boot time.
It will come with a windows-9 editor and a dedicated website for furious comments and fawning accolades from opposing fangroups
As an hommage to the wide range of different features and to the sectarian passions which will surround it,
it will be called...
... the Korg Beirut |

Interesting post over at VSE: New korg maxitribe. real or not? - Page 3 - Vintage Synth Explorer Forums 'When I put the Minitaur on hold with Novamusik back in February I lamented to my rep that Korg should've done something like that for an expanded Monotribe and he said, "well, Korg is going to surprise everyone this summer" and he wouldn't be more specific than that. I can only assume this is what he was referring to. Looking forward to see what they roll out.'

Oh that makes me even more excited.
Korg better not disappoint.
I mean, there *will* be disappointed faces, no matter what they announce later, I just hope that it will also cause many happy faces.
Be it a polyphonic analog or hybrid synth, or something that kills the Integra-7 right at the start, or a monophonic mini-desktop-synth (though the few hints we have don't hint towards *that*).
I just don't want any further toy on the one side, nor 2000+ synth on the other side.

They say it's a major announcement so it's either:
1. "We're announcing our new analog lineup of three synths."
2. "We're going bankrupt."

Now it's a big, undigested mass of a company with overlapping products and a need for serious rationalizing (aka canceling) of product lines and eliminating bloat and duplication. If either inMusic or Korg were interested in a merger/takeover that M-Audio deal would never have gone through in the first place.

I'm starting to get interested.
This isn't a good idea. I've been disappointed too many times before.
Let me know when the micro-sampler nano-workstation iphone software controller is announced. |

Polytron. same packaging and everything but now 4 voices.
*waits to see videos of people playing chords on baby ribbon*
Of course my real wish would be for a serious mono synth based on what they've been doing with the monotron series. Real keyboard, dual VCO... kind of an updated MS20.

simultaneous usage of FOUR styluses is all you need.

Me thinks it's this: - Korg Shows World's First 5.6 MHz DSD DAW : Recording Magazine -
So, my guess (In numerical order) would be:
#1) Korg enters the DAW world at an entirely new level - World's First 5.6 MHz DSD DAW (Finally Completed) along with corresponding accessories.
#2) Korg is involved in some type of major acquisition or merger.
#3) A fresh and new, more expansive analog/ROMpler product or series harkening back to yesteryear with a modern twist.
If it's #1 they can revive the "Game Changer" moniker one more time because if it turns out to be a stable product, it would be a huge leap forward for Korg in the Pro/Prosumer market, especially if it is at a reasonable price point. Number two (#2) is totally possible in todays acquisition driven, venture capitalistic environment. Number three (#3) seems a little too 'boilerplate' by most major synth companies standards, but it is possible.
If it is number one (1#), it would truly be a "major announcement" but it's a long shot.
I do believe that whatever it is it will be major though, relatively speaking of course.

Am I the only one who has the (probably idiotic) fantasizing thought, that Korg could do something with Elektron?
Or why do Elektron a) now have a "seat" (or whatever you call it in business English) in Japan, b) have a Japanese flag next to the Swedish one on their website, c) have a 20% off discount in the next 2 months, d) announce a new product that doesn't compare with their previous ones, and e) have a graphic design already very similar to Korg's in colours and fonts....

all monoX's in one box (monotribe with 2 oscs/xmod and a delay fx send) would be cool but thats not a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT so given that Korg has clearly bought Elektron my guess is they will also announce the Octotribe
