Waldorf Blofeld USB problems
Hi Guys,

Hope you can help me out with this one.
I am using a Waldorf Blofeld synth in Pro Tools 10 and connected it with an USB cable to send midi from Pro Tools to the Blofeld.
I also connected the output ports of the Blofeld with jacket cables to the analog input ports of my Digirack-003. I also connected an ESI USB keyboard to Pro Tools. When i play a note on the keyboard, no midi is received in the Blofeld, the light doesn't flash. On the midi channel strip i see the meter flashes, so it receives signals from the keyboard.
I also tried a similar setup in Ableton and everything works fine. I even tried to connect the Blofeld with midi cables to Pro Tools and then it also works fine. Because i've planned to expand my external synths in the future, for me it's important that i can use the USB connection.
I have a Windows-7 computer with Intel core i-7, 8 GB RAM, SSL drive and SATA drive.

Sounds like perhaps there is a lack of USB power. Get a powered USB hub and the gear should behave better. :-)

What's the OS version of the Blofeld, I had USB problems using version 1.15, not having them using version 1.13

Thank you for your answers, but i don't think the problem is a lack of power. As i mentioned the Blofeld works fine in Ableton.

@Quisquater: The OS version is indeed 1.15. Is it much work and possible to downgrade to 1.13 to check if this is the problem? And if no, when it's not the problem easy to upgrade again?

Good lord do NOT downgrade to 1.13. A much better solution if you HAVE to change the OS is to upgrade to 1.16B2 which is available on the Waldorf web site. Use the free sample library tool Spectre that they provide to do the upgrade cause it works extremely well. The 1.16B2 software works very well and fixes a lot of problems.

I am not a ProTools person but normally when these things come up it is because USB midi is not selected as the active midi device for the track.

Thank you kpsiegel, normally i'm also not for downgrading.
I am going to get some information on the Waldorf site.

By the way, i also send an email to Waldorf with this problem.
I received an brief answer that i have to refer to the Pro Tools manual, because the device works properly under Ableton. Not the answer i expected to, but understandable.
But it didn't quite help me.
So i've read the whole manual, but nothing specific for my problem.
I also posted this issue on the Pro Tools forum, but 2 reactions which didn't help me.

It must be a Pro Tools matter, or better, my lack of experience with Pro Tools, because through midi and in Ableton with USB, it does work.

So, i've installed 1.16b but the problem is still there.
Very strange, everything works fine in other programs, but no go in Pro Tools, except for the midi connection.

If someone has some suggestions, please....?

I would say that the problem is not in the Blofeld, then.

No, i don't think the Blofeld is the problem.

Anyone some experience with setting up his Blofeld in Pro Tools?
