Was at a bar and a song starts and a Korean friend was like "Korean hit song!" It ended up being the American original, but the Korean version had lifted the main hook. The English lyrics started and he was like "Oh, not Korean..." And that happens all the time where you hear one of those songs and think "Huh? I've heard that exact hook/beat/sample/phrase before somewhere...Oh yeah! It's from... (insert American pop song here)!"
great example of this is G-Dragon's Heartbreaker, virtually the same as Flo-Rida's Right Round. It happen's more often than you'd think, but that's the industry, producers shop around their songs looking for these companies to buy them and put their artists on them, same reason Kesha has a demo of Run Devil Run when it was later sold and released by SNSD.

Yeah, I'm sure it happens a lot, but on top of that there's also the tendency here to copy and repackage things as their own. It goes way beyond just the music industry. Cars, phones, computers, appliances, logos, brand names, fashion...

What? Koreans copying and repackaging anything and everything? That is just a rumor Apple made up to get back at Samsung. Really!! That kind of thing just doesn't happen in Korea...

According to Discogs, it was mixed by Jason Roberts, Psy, and HyunSuk Yang who runs Psy's label YG. Jason Roberts also mixed for Cypress Hill, House of Pain and was the assistant engineer for Guns N' Roses' Use Your Illusion I/II. http://www.discogs.com/Psy-Gangnam-S...elease/3945023

More info from here: "In terms of mixing, YG uses Jason Roberts in LA. I'm not sure about these songs but sometimes he mixes out of Ameraycan in Noho. He has a good relationship with YG so they will do a mix then take it to the clubs on the weekends to test it out and go back and tweak it to make sure it comes across in the clubs.

Tom Coyne at Sterling does the mastering."

It would be guns for children, but no biggie.
Our major newspaper just took the bait on my little pony guns after the recent accident, and theres always some tests floating around from religious schools.
Sadly we dont read much about sane Americans, just about Honey Boo Boo and Will.I.Am (who is not nearly mad enough, fame should require Sun Ra levels.)

Edit: Ah, sorry 3phase is back, I thought it was all my countryman above as he answered last.
