As far as dance genre stuff goes, I think the track is pretty cool. It actually has a personality, and you're likely to remember it, as opposed to something from the trance genre, where ideas seem to be downright discouraged, resulting in 60 billion tracks released each year that all sound the same and have absolutely **** all going on.
Nothing special about this track at all. Not to say there is no talent behind it and not to say that there is either. It's just another one hit wonder.
The only reason I saw the video is from watching an SNL parody on it, which was pretty funny, but I realized I needed to check out the video to see exactly what they were joking about, not like it wasn't hard to see. They even had actual pop artist cameo on there. Pretty funny SNL skit.
Without the dance routine, it would just be really annoying dance music. Again, not like it already isn't.

I don't see how this is LMFAO rip off apart from the two being quite unimiginative pop dance stuff with crap "rap" over acid bass lines
Funny. The first thing I thought of was Party Rock Anthem rip/heavily inspirational. The synth line. The stop with Gangnam Style/Every Day I´m shuffling. And there are other elements that ain´t so obvious. IMO.
But it´s clever done. Not a rip in my book. More inspirational.
Yeah I have made up my mind.

For the synthline, I'd say "Sexy and I Know It" instead of "Party Rock Anthem"; but then many dancepop songs' synthline sound like a cliche of that song anyway. ("Where Have You Been" especially) The stop? That's a build-up... but LMFAO is such a trend setter I guess.
I'm sure every country got it's own "LMFAO" In Germany it's "Die Atzen":
I could stand listen to "Die Atzen", but I definitely can't tell the same for the "emperor" of techno Sven Vath in his youth...you'd better protecting your ears...it's awful!!! I wonder how did he became famous after that disaster...
All you haters must wake up and smell the roses. Reality has hit. It's global music and it's on US radio.
Whilst some of you are bitching and moaning about artistic integrity, this guy has cleaned up all the way to the bank. He could build a music school with the money he has made and teach art if he wants to rather than being high horsed about being a clever musician.

I'm not hating. I just don't think it's a very good song, even for mainstream pop. I highly doubt anyone will be playing it 20 years from now. It's akin to a Dr Bombay or a Crazy Frog song, ie a novelty hit.
I could of course be wrong and simply too old to understand music like this. Maybe he actually IS as talented as, say, Prince or MJ.

I think a lot has changed in terms of thought processes attached to intellectual property. The long term incomes have dwindled, so it's mostly about short term. Make the money and run. Come back with another idea or brand.
MJ and Prince cannot be compared to Psy because their environment and time periods are completely different. They are masters of music as a whole. However, I'd like to argue that MJ and Prince would absolutely love to be in Psys shoes today, relevant with the kids, making people feel good and being sung by nearly every kid on the planet. Reality is that, whether we like it or not.

[QUOTE=idmmer417;8194135] Do you really like this music? Is this song creating a buzz in States for real?
april fools i think....
only a moron would want to know how to make this style of music but there are plenty of those in the world , hence the popularity of this guy.
Just when you thought music could not descend any further into the domain of fast food and aspartame it does.
We must be close to the end now ?
What i love is how you point out the odvious fake shiteness of all this , the tediousness of it and your called jealous or reminded the guy makes more money than you and sells millions and how somehow this makes it valid ?
Its valid in showing anyone with half a brain just what Not to do.
Yeah he makes a million by selling his artistic soul and creating more world pollution .
More dumbing down products for the masses so they remain slaves to the great mamon machine.
Its like a guy dressed like a cock at school to all who can see him and him saying like a 5 year old ' your just jealous ' as an arguement for looking like a cock.
add jealousy and frustration to it..... 'clueless' could be a little harsh but some certainly are!! most of it comes from 'reluctance to change'....
I see how things would have been when Rock'n'Roll and electric guitar kicked in from the Classical phase and how the Classical folks would have felt... hey, bottom line is Life moves on. It's just fun to catch the latest wave and surf with it rather than bitching about it.

I'd be surprised if it gets airplay 1 year from now, lol. 100% agree with you on this. I only heard it the other day when my kid made me listen to this. Definitely closer to Crazy Frog than any music with any sort of lasting appeal.
On the other hand, there's probably nothing released this year that will be played 20 years from now....so par for the course!
