Tis a lie. Unless it's real.

I wouldn't mind a new 101 though, even just because it might depress prices of the old ones. (or maybe it would do the opposite, idk) Not so interested in a new Roland polysynth.

i'll take a jupiter-16 (gotta keep up with the andromeda) and the jp-8888 (analog supersaws).

That groovebox was the spawn of Satan. I'll probably go to Hell for owning one for a short period. Quite bitter about that, to be honest.

Every unit must be burned, and then no one must ever mention the name again.

Roland UK recently tweeted a picture of some of their old gear, and they are holding some events exploring the history of their synths...

Roland Synth Story

Could be background for the Legacy Collection though.

I think thats BS, they aren't going to carbon copy one of their old analogs. Even when they make a VA they never emulate a previous model 100%. Plus they'd have done one by now cos they know there is a big demand for TB303s what with all the clones on the market and the silly prices they fetch on eBay.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did a new real analog synth though, and badged it up with a name that has heritage.

There was an almost carbon copy post not long ago about some Korg rep in a shop saying they had an analogue coming out, which turned out to be utter bo**ox.

You guys. So I was at the local music center the other day, y'know, scoping out all the synths when this ugly son of a bitch comes up to me and is like "yo, like synths?" I says yup and he tells me that Yamaha is going to completely revive the entire CS line, all of 'em. So I'm just like WAUW TELL ME MORE and the inside scoop is that they'll revive the line, which is funded by NASA, the case/exterior is being commissioned out to Bob Ross and Roland gets to load 'em with presets and oher digitals. He further went on to explain that the On/Off switch will be fingerprint locked to ensure that nobody can steal your filter sweeps.

Just a rumour of course, but I believe the source to be credible.

The way Roland works right now, even if they did release an analog, they'd screw it up somehow.

Come on guys. All the people that worked on the Jupiters 30+ years ago are all retired. It's not gonna happen. This new bunch of engineers have a totally different vision and perspective... Stop mourning the loss of the great Japanese polysynth. It's about time the widows moved on...

The whole of Alesis sucks when it comes to customer service/sales!!

Few years ago when they just announced they stopped production of the Andromeda (they still had them as current product on the website) I emailed them to ask where I could still get one or if they still had one to sell. I expected a reply as I made clear at the time I was serious about buying one right away. I NEVER got a reply on any of my questions....All other manufacturers I have emailed have always (some later than others) managed a reply even if it was just a short 'yes' or 'no'. It seems like they are not interested at all....

IF they were still available new I would love to get my hands on one, used ones I just find too much hassle (over inflated prices, shipping, tech probs etc). Ah well maybe I need to convince a good friend who has one in top condition that it would be better off in my studio then his LOL (no chance I fear ha ha ha)

LOL moved on to....a brand spanking new shitty VA that LOOKS like the real deal)

I agree though, they would manage to **** up their own legacy products hands down!

Well they nicked the 'Legacy' name for their JP80 update, so it wouldn't surprise me

Meanwhile, in unrelated news, Mrs. Watanabe, of Hamamatsu, committed suicide after her husband, a salaryman at an established Japanese company noted for its strong culture of adherence to bureaucratic protocol and respect for company traditions, brought great dishonor upon his employer by revealing the company's future product plans to a long-haired employee of an obscure music store in Melbourne, Australia without obtaining formal written approval from all of his superiors in the order of their seniority.

It won't happen....

I'm really happy that the minibrute took the MI industry by surprise and as a result of that, we will see more mono analog synths under $700 coming from other manufactures.

Roland will not be one of them.

I would love to wrong...

On another note, I bet we see an re-issue of the Novation Bass Station soon.

No, you shouldn't.
I should for trading in my Red SH101 w/ mod grip PLUS cash to Rouge to get it on release day.

It would make sense. They are big on following trends.

Probably 99% will hate it for years until someone finds a good use for it.

Last week I actually went to the Roland site, in the hope of contacting them to find out plans for possible future releases. Naturally I was going to drop several subtle hints about the popularity of analog synths these days.
But there is no way to contact them, there is only support for current products.

So in my humble opinion, there is NO way that there will be any analog joy to look forward to.
In fact, I'm so sure about it, if Roland does release a new analog, I will buy one, take it apart, and eat it. Bit by bit, key by key. And I'll post it all on Youtube.
It might seem like a pointless excercise, but at the end of it all, people will say:
"That's the guy who poop's Rolands"

I'll be going there soon (hopefully) to pick up my minibrute that I've had on order for a couple months,
that's if it ever comes haha
Get anonymous to hack Roland's emails (tell them its a matter of national security) then all will be revealed

Roland are way too big to listen to their customers. It's not some small boutique manufacturer with 5 employees and 1000 customers worldwide. They can't have that personal relationship with customers. They research the market in order to determine how to make the most money possible with as little investment as possible in order to maximize profits. This means a re-badget ROMpler with a cool new buzzword every 5 years, not an analog monosynth that's only of interest to a small minority.

I don't know why all you Roland heads seem to automatically think, if they did release something analogue, it would actually be any good.

As pointed out earlier in the thread, all the original designers of their classic (to some) gear, are long retired/dead.
