drum pattern templates

I'm looking for drum pattern templates.. possibly midi notes on a drum rack, that gives me ideas as to where I can place toms, bongos, congas, rimshots etc, and gives me the flexibilty to moves these midi notes around... is there such a thing? Does Spectrasonics Stylus do this?

that's hard if you don't have rhythm.

If you don't have rhythm maybe you shouldn't be doing music.

Usual GS helpfulness I see, give the guy a break...

Loopmasters and places like that sell midi construction kits if you look around.

Otherwise maybe a pattern book 260 Drum Machine Patterns: Amazon.co.uk: Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation: Books

Do you understand what a joke is? I wasn't talking about anyone here, but generally if someone lacks a sense of rhythm I don't see them accomplishing much with their music. I'm not trying to be harsh here.

Like the other cat said plenty of midi construction kits which will allow you to become an expert in no time.
Ignore what others say and just go buy them...........

Their is nothing wrong with learning, and if you lack these skills these midi templates will indeed help you.
Go get em.

i'm not sure midi templates will help you create complex african tech house.

but yeah, best thing to do is just loop sections of whatever you're trying to emulate until you figure out whats going on. you can slow the track down if the drumming is too fast to follow.

nah of course not but if the OP needs some help it will give him an idea no?
I am not telling him to go out and just copy the damn things.

Just a helping hand.

Not everyone was born with a rock and a stick in their hand banging out a beat

How else can you expect him to learn?
Don't drummers take lessons to?

Isnt africa where ploy rythyms and cross beats were born?

I dont know if one person per perc instrument makes it any easier... but those have to be the hardest beats for an amateur to mimic

posting here gets you comments, but they are worthless...

"too much feedback on the delay, clearly 35% is correct"

"you should use a Juno 60 for that bass, it is so much better"

"you cut the tail on that sample too tight, i can hear it cross zero"

I wouldn't say worthless... you just have to determine what's useful and what isn't.. a guy saying to give up making music because I want to find drum patten templates, is pretty worthless info, but a guy who points me in the direction of exactly what I was looking for, isn't

Yo have a point to make.

Try get your self a step sequencer and start with 16 steps, then increase to 32 and so on.

It does get easier with time.

Yeah xox style step sequencing is my favourite method for beats also.

For more complex african stuff etc, your better off using loops in the background, it needs to be totally human feel to work, then program more beats on top.

I thought the idea was to give each perc/hit its own space? Is it ok to layer toms on top of toms?
