Both are nice but I think they are going to make things too complicated for you. Get an ESX1 instead. It's a very fun, instant tool and you can play live with it easily too, doing realtime tweaks. Add a simpler synth of your taste and sample the synth (chords, licks, piano stuff etc) into the ESX. Roland XP30 is great for house for instance. Sequence with a computer for more complex musical adventures. Sample patterns into the ESX and you get a rougher character. Just my view. I don't think you'll enjoy reading a 300 page manual just to learn how to swing quantize. Just got an ESX and it is truly very very fun and instant.

* X6 does realtime timestretching if you want to use audio loops
* X6 doesn't have modes. You don't have to stop playing and edit drum sounds like the Triton's drum editing in Global Mode.
* X6 auto loads your samples, although it can takes many minutes
* X6 has a drum pattern editing feature and plays drum patterns (Triton none)

* Triton has LOADS of sounds ready to go, X6 is quite plain and uninspiring IMO
* Triton fx are greater range and more of them

But I don't think a workstation has the right 'vibe'. A small box like MPC or Korg is probably better.

thanks!

can I use midi out to and simultaneously record from an analog synth
on both?
Im not interested in using the built in sounds.

Which one is best to deal with large amount of imported sounds.
I want to record my analog synths note by note and import into the workstation together with recordings of my analog drum machines.

but I really think that the sequencer and speed of workflow for bread butter house production is what will make me decide.

Please chime in !!
