Turning on the TV would be a good place to start.

I get all my weird stuff from YouTube. Get the downloader for chrome and convert to mp3. I'm still working on a track made entirely from Afghanistan war footage where I sampled tanks turrets mechanisms spinning round and the sound of a shell being fired. Ripped from YouTube. Otherwise search creative commons license sound libraries. Don't expect quality though. Ive still to find a great sample of a woman screaming in absolute terror.

I might just turn on the Spanish TV station and go from there.

Handheld recorders are a good place to start. One of the Tascam models was recently lowered to $50USD.

If you don't feel like recording stuff yourself, give loopmaster's movie dialogues series a go, you can extract a lot of stuff from it.
