I'll go with Elektron's trinity:
Monomachine
Octatrack
Machindrum UW
I'd say that's a pretty flexible setup with two slots to spare.

That old Roland stuff is really nice.

Ok... How about a leftfield choice?
El capistan
Timeline
Flint
Blue sky
Orbit
... 5 chunks of strymon loveliness. You could fart into that and get gold through the outputs.

I have long since run out of space. A few items are in their respective cases and in another room as my studio room is quite small, hence the 5" monitors.
I usually have room for 3 synths and two guitars at one time. Rarely is the P08 and DX7 going at the same time. That's why I love the three octave jobbers!

For me it would be Clavia, unless we could consider a sequencer from another brand...
I would pick up the following:
Clavia Nord Lead 3
Clavia Nord Modular
Clavia Nord Modular G2X (x2)
Clavia Nord Wave
And I think I'd have a pretty nice setup that way
I actually only miss a Nord Wave at the moment but have an extra G2 Engine, Rack 2 and Micro Modular.
From my experience, the Modulars are definitely the synths I use the most and they are extremely versatile synths.
And they are also fantastic for sequences, effects processing and extremely complex pads.
And with the Wave I could use samples too and the Lead 3 would provide a more hands-on-synth with a great interface and great sound too.
Saying this, if I could only pick up one synth, my choice would definitely be the Nord Modular G2X.
Ok, I would likely pick up something else extremely rare and much more valuable, but just to sell it and spend the extra amount on the G2X
It's really a fantastic machine.

The Animal/Animate/Soup Kitchen provide all 3 filters (4 w/ RES EQ)
Stereo Delay... DSUG. Plus Triple Wavefolder is on the Animate, but
not on the Soup Kitchen. Two NTOs, only one PVCO... but I'd make do.
It was tough between TKB/CV1 to add to the SEQ, but the CV1 won out
with the extended ADSR, Quantizer. The Soup Kitchen needs modulation,
so you could have 2 synths, 1 effects/modulation, 1 sequencer panel.
TKB would be the 6th.
Now, where did I set that $40k? I just had it in my hand...

With Yamaha you could get a jet ski and a motorcycle alongside your grand piano, CS80, and maybe RS7000...so it's really no choice.

The Prophet 8 can take up allot of space on its own.
Anyway good luck with it all. |

The most complete system would probably be Roland:
System 700
Jupiter 8
S750
JD990
JX10
But, my dearest company is Korg:
PS3300
Trident MkII
MS20 (re-discovered!!! )
M1
SV1

SV1 | Wonder how many system 700's there are in existence? Or any model Roland modular? The only Roland modular's I have seen on Ebay in the last year are the 100M's. There are two on now with a 191 J and an old as hell but clean looking keyboard. Like $3800 US http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolend-syste...ht_8555wt_1037
I got the impression Roland were not big players in modular.
BTW how could one un-discover an MS20. Those things are bad-ass!! |

At the end of this exercise....you reflect and realize that there are so many killer hardware synths out there despite the manufacturer

But, that's the way it went... | The unfortunate thing about the MS-20 is that its super sweet filter lives in eurorack land, and dollar for dollar you'd get more synth from eurorack than a MS-20 these days. Love the MS-20, but if I had to spend that money, I'd just go modular.

OK I had originally said Waldorf and made a list but the Yamaha choice with a C7 concert grand is just too irresistible. I would give up every synth I own before I gave up my Yamaha grand. So...
Yamaha:
CS-80
C7 Grand piano
DX-7 II FD with eMagic mods
AN1x
RM1x (cause I need some drums)
