I decided to take a year or two break from making music, so I sold all my gear and bought a pair of turntables and an Allen & Heath mixer. Gonna concentrate on DJ'ing during the hiatus.

Would have liked to, but it seems like he stopped selling them just a few days ago!

[SPAM] FS: Korg Monotribe Midi Kits

Really impressed with the sound so far though. I have to admit I held off because I believed it was a little over-hyped but its sound is different enough to my other analogs to hold onto. Also a lorra, lorra fun.

Got an OB-Xa (8-voice?) on the way for the price of an OB-8.

The truth was that I preferred the Xa and was planning on settling for the 8.

Was like, man you shouldn't buy that gear, you can't affort it, did it anyway....

Tata...

It is a bit "slim" though....

But..I did find myself tweeking and playing with it, for a half an hours or so, several times.

Just picked up a Lexicon MPX-1... Again...

I bought one when they first came out in the 90's and I forgot how good they sound.

They are going for cheap.

I've been sequencer crazy this month for some reason. Just picked up an Orb and a MAQ 16/3. Also considered the Mobius, the Europa, and the Dark Time. I'm sure I will own those one day. :-)

Got a Jupiter 6 in the house tonight and really enjoyed it for a couple of hours. It's got Europa 2.0 in it, was shipped off to be factory installed at Synthcom in 2007 by previous owner. Really nice shape, basically brand new looking, the guy babied it. All documentation and the old chip if I ever wanted to put it back in. A good deal, but not the deal of the century at 1750 Canadian. But an especially good deal not having to pay any taxes, customs, delivery etc.

And it definitely sounds way different than my Prophet T8 and some of my other polys. It makes me think of a polyphonic SH-101 if that makes any sense. Or like a poly version of the SH-7 I used to own. Not the same oscillators of course as the 7 but a nice, bright and clean techno sound to it. I like the filter a lot, I have enough squishy ones and the combinable waveforms. And it does sound extremely massive but can sound paper thin too. Am really enjoying it. It's very precise too. What you tell it to do it just does.

The T8 is murkier and a bit more raw sounding and of course has the sequential hallmarks that the Roland doesn't. So a nice complement to the rest of the studio. Very pleased.

Congrats, yep its a fab synth.
I do think its quite close to a poly sh101 in many ways and a very techno synth as you say, great compliment to a T8.
I had a T8 once wish i had kept it! Not very versatile but what a fat rich sound

No, but I'm looking for something like that. Didn't have a chance to try one yet, only know the Roland SPD's which are too expensive for my needs. So this looks like a nice, cheaper alternative.

When it arrives ill give it a good work out and drop you a pm...ive got a feeling it'll be great for electronic beats and basic acoustic stuff, dunno about anything more delicate like ghost notes etc

Wow, look what just landed on my desk...

A Stage Accompany PPL 2410 Programmable Parametric Equaliser.
I bought this cause it was very cheap, and it's programmable, which I think is great for mixing.
If you have a nice setting, say for the bassguitar, you can store it and then go on with another synth or something, without losing the setting for the bass.
I'm very stoked about this thing.
I already bought a Opagee Rosetta recenly, so my plan to step up my sound has worked out quit well I think.
The PPL will replace a Klark Teknik Square One EQ.
The Rosetta will replace the converters of my Emu 0404 PCI.

Just got one of these nasty bastards off ebay:

Vesta Fire DSX Stereo Chorus/Flanger/Distortion guitar pedal.
Seems to have a "double distortion setting" which should be interesting.

Gonna use it on my juno 2 and sh-101
