Best sounding white noise on a synth

wow this is deep into nerd territory aint it?..

Not all noise circuits are created equal.

I always tend to go for my system100 noise because it sounds great, has a pink or white selector and is patched into my patch bay, so i can just grab it and send it off to another synth, even to use as CV if i want.

JP8's noise is very usefull, eg set to Lo Freq (pink) for kick generation or for *fake* reverb etc

worst sounding white noise i have in my place is in my pro5 rev2. thinking about modifying it... it's fine for modulation (actually quite sweet and unique sounding). but in audio it's rough and digital sounding.

one thing that struck me about the OB8 when i had use of one for a time was how great the noise on it was. such a shame there is no level control for it!

what synth has the best sounding white noise for you? (or any other colour - pink, red, grey)

and

what's the point of this thread?

I always liked Novation Supernova II's noise, especially combined with it's filters, perfect swoosh machine.

FM synths are the best at noise generation IMO.

I love the Waldorf Pulse but it has the crappiest pink noise generator.

I have more experience with modular noise. (but at least you can listen to the pure noise without the synth signal chain)

I have compared the white noise from a Serge, Wiard Noisering and Cwejman S1.

The Wiard and Serge sounded similar but the Cwejman clearly lacked low against the 2 others. To me those 2 are more pleasing.

Very nerdy, but admirable, post GB.

I like the white noise on my CS-15. I'm getting my Odyssey back from my tech this weekend. It will be my first chance to play a fully-functioning Oddy. I expect it will sound better than the CS-15 noise.

I'm quite fond of the noise generator on the Roland SH-1000. Likely quite similar to the System 100; white or pink, sounds just right.

Korg MS-10 gets an honorable mention for sounding like "angry noise". Compared to the SH-1000, the Korg MS-10's noise sounds like it's about to kick your ass and take your wallet.

Yeah good white noise is needed

In my experience its Logic Esp ..Noise just sounds thick and the synth also has great filter drive and flange effect ...Used by many top producers.

Generally sweep noise in EDM has a high shelf and sharp high frequency boost. Percussive white noise can retain the mids etc.

Of all the Synths I've had I would have to say the ARP Odyssey. The White Noise has a lot of depth and it's sound-shaping functions are very versatile. It also has Pink Noise.

As far as softsynths, Massive? It has brightnoise as well.

I like to bandpass out the bass and very high frequencies, add some distortion and reverb for a snare-like sound. (Obviously can be layered with snare or clap recordings.)

The EDP Wasp has great noise. Dunno about how it's laid out (analog or digital), but it definitely helps take the Wasp to crazy places.

Also, speaking of noise, I would like a synth that has blue noise.... Someday.
