Thanks Reptil tbh I'd prefer to arrange shipping myself if he'd be ok with that. I see €3200 is only the starting bid though... yikes! Reptil, I'm sending you a PM!
Also just looking at the Phoenix DRS8 suggested by Swami... £2495 in the UK and $3500 in the US, that's a difference of about £267! Why on earth is British gear cheaper in the US than in the UK?

You are on the list buddy.

Why is it insulting to ask for help/advice? Come on JSt0rm... relax, no need to get a bee in your bonnet. Please don't turn this thread into a slanging match guys...

I have no idea what a slanging match is so I will be off. Don't ever respond to people like that who are offering you free advice, that's the last advice I'm going to give you.

Do we call it a slanging match in the UK? I always thought that it was a slagging match?...
Definitely by the looks of things you need to get a ton of preamps.
I'm gonna second the API 3124. That will give you 4 API preamps straight away. All with DI inputs for your synths. Get a lunch box on top of that and then add new preamps/comps etc.. as and when you can afford them. But I think the 3124 comes in at under £2000. So there is still some cash to play with.
Try to leave yourself £500 for the minibrute, slim phatty or whatever Studio electronics are cooking up. Or even and SEM. Second hand SE1X's could be an option too. I got a moog source for £600. Not sure what they go for at the moment.
The chandler TG2 absolutely smokes on synths but it £2000 just for the 2 channels. So Lunch box and 3124 is a good option for similar sound.

Thanks for the suggestions Odey.
I'd love a Moog Source however I think they're currently going for a lot more than you paid!

...... | API 3124M+
it has a mixer
also check this out, while you're at it: http://classicapi.com/catalog/index.php
alternative: even less expensive (more channels, but slightly less character)
Speck XSum http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/merce...spkxsumpro.pdf
There's actually talk of a new version which has direct outs on every channel.

Thx for the additional suggestions Reptil...
Regarding the 3124M+, that's this one isn't it? http://www.apiaudio.com/3124mb.html
It's listed on the API site as 3124mb+... I'm not sure if I'd need the mixer but the aux send and return could be useful.
anyway, I'm sure you know what I really want!
...nevertheless it's good to have options!

Seriously, if I had that cash I'd hunt down a fully functional Alesis Andromeda A6!
Maybe a Voyager

I think if you look second hand on ebay then you can pick up loads of really good preamps for very reasonable prices.

If you are constrained by budget I offer you this advice:
- preamps vs synths: always go for synths--they are MUCH more important to your sound
- you don't have enough synths seriously you need some nice monos and polys.
- I prefer EQ and comps over preamps / DI for synths

Bought an awesome EAB TRE-400 from Mono-Poly last year, still fixing it up. Quote:

So shipping small amps, eqs etc. piece by piece would be a logistical nightmare. IF the sellers even want to do that. (extra paperwork)

I know what you're saying Tonnu, but I already have more hardware sound sources than I have inputs for. I'm old school... many moons ago I was all hw running live through console straight to dat... over the past few years been restricted to working itb, need to get out!
As far as synths go I'd love a couple more, but right now my priority is tracking/mixing, and after that a new bass, percussion, mics etc, after all that I may consider a new synth!
...and yes I agree Odey, Reptil is cool as |

10 mono, 2 stereo, 1 stereo reverb return, 4 aux (pre/post), 4 Kompressoren, eingebauter zuschaltbarer Limiter und 4 Summen .
| yes, amp and eq on the input channels. amps on other channels.
compressor doesn't work but that should be easy to fix.

Sorry Odey, I haven't visited this thread for a couple of days... thanks for stepping in Reptil.
Andreas at www.analog-audio.ch is currently organising getting it sent to him. He'll inspect it and let me know what needs doing to get it in tip top shape and we'll take it from there. It could mean he has it for a couple of months, but some things are worth waiting for!
