spend a little morethan the hundered bucks and get the k271's
and this TB Isone
....or just have those pesky kids adopted before they start really eating into your gear budget.
Better still...find them gainful employment. Old enough to complain, old enough to work.

my budget is about $100.00 | Sell something small you never use, up the budget to ~400 to get some nice open backed AKGs and wind up much, much happier with yourself.

Yeah, don't you have like thousands of dollars invested in synths? And you want to buy a 100 dollar headphone?
I have a Sennheiser 280 Pro which is in that price range. Compared to my AKG Q702, it's got a really "confusing" midrange, for lack of a better word. I can't really tell what's going on a lot of the time. Not very flat I guess. I got my Q702 for like 260 dollars shipped. Deals are out there...

The AKG 240 is not bad for the price. I would say use them for tracking and arranging, but find the time to mix and master in front of some monitors.

I have a pair and they are wonderful. Especially if you are doing a lot of compression.

If you can push it a little on your budget go for the ATH-50M. Use them both for studio and djying. Can't go wrong there. They're a must have ;-)

BTW the Audio-Technica ATH-M50's are good as well as phas3d said above.

yes i have spent thousands of dollars on synths and such, but that's just to piss off the kids who swear they would use it if i just sold it to them
the M50's look like my Sony Studio Monitors from 20 years ago. sadly they got broken when a SCI Six Trak was knocked on top of them (i'm still looking at you curtis cat).
i can get them for about 100.00 so i think i'll see what they can do. i just need them for evenings once the kids are in bed. i can use the monitors all afternoon and all weekend to jam, track, mix and master, floss and flow
plus cancelling the room will let me hear things more different.

Can vouch for both K271 and ATH M50's, been using the M50's exclusively lately for mixing and djing as well. The AKG's are more tame, have a little less bass. M50's are great, you'll love them.
