Did the same thing few months ago - put up a PEK for sale, decided not to sell it while a potential seller was sitting next to me with cash in his hand going thru the presets.
So glad I did not do it...

I don't want to see most of these guys make the same old stuff again as I want them to make new and even more exciting stuff.

Same here. I like the newer DSI synths. The only SCI that I really like is the ProOne.

i was going to send you an offer on it, but can't decide on the synth until i actually hear it for myself. i'd also suspect i'd probably have to sell my JP-6 if i got a PEK. i'm not totally loving the JP-6.. and i have too many synths as it is... so something's got to go if something new comes in.

I sold my JP6 about 2 months ago and just recently picked up a PEK, I've been very happy with my decision.

I would want to use it for pads and soft/noisy sounds. I quite like my microwave and the vs waves in the blofeld.
I've got a virus ti that I use quite a bit and am not sure if the above 3 synths make the PEK redundant. (tho I'm most attracted by its knobby interface)

(tho I'm most attracted by its knobby interface) | The thing about the PEK is that it is AWESOME for pads BUT at the same time the 4 voice Polyophany sucks for pads. I am going to add a rack to mine shortly to go to 8 voices. It's good for any sound. and it imparts a strange/awesome digital shimmer on anything it touches on TOP of the analog sound.
Bottom line is that there isn't any other synth that looks and sounds as good, while being powerful as SHIT at the same time.
I had a virus before and it's nothing like a virus at all.

i can get by with 4 notes for a chord/pad... but where the problem would arise is in the long releases... as usually a voice sounds, even if they key isn't held down, as it's making any sound at all (releasing)
i'd be willing to work around that limitation though. i really need to try one. Quote:

I had a Mono Evolver. Is the sound very different from the Poly? It was very harsh, and had a very abrasive sheen to it.. not like the Waldorf filter sound, different, more aggressive... It was the best DRONE machine I ever had, especially with the filter res wide open, self-oscillating... The sequencer also helps a LOT in that respect...
But overall the sound didn't agree with me, it lacked some oomph, and I sold it to buy a Waldorf XT.

I would say if you have your eye on it, just get it. It's amazing. It can be very smooth.
