What is Your Dream Synth?

Just saw Blade Runner 25th Anniversary Edition. One of the only films I listen to as much as I watch.
Damn that CS80 sounds good. Gave me GAS big time.
Only trouble is there is one on Ebay for like $15 grand. A dream.
This is the one synth I put in as my entry.
What is your one dream synth either out of or still in production.
It can be the same as mine!

Moog Modular

Never going to happen though.

But other than that a 303, because I love acid house. Will settle for a x0xb0x though.

Go get its child, Andromeda, way cheaper ... as good sounding (especially with brasses ) and far more flexible.

here is what I made with mine, brasses and all foreground sounds are Andromeda the rest are Alchemy.

Concering me, I dont think my dream has been materialised yet. I would love to have a cross between Physical modeling / analogue sound / Additive Resynthesis and FM.

I dont think I am asking too much , do i ?

Nice demo Kilon.

I'd have to agree with the OP on the CS80. That might be my first choice if I could have any. An Elka Synthex would be up there too.

Nice one. But not either in or out of production (meaning vintage or disco'd).
Maybe email DSI for the replacement for the MEK.

Nord G2 with some improvements.

ie - more/better oscillators and filters. some more interesting modules. sampling/granular capabilities (beyond what some brilliant users have come up with). custom 'embedded' modules that can be made up from existing module 'building blocks'. more horsepower. stuff like that...

thanks guys... the brass sounds are made from scratch by me. Was not hard to make actually, its really satisfying to use your own sounds in a track.

Some sort of epic, room encompassing modular with step sequencers a-plenty.

A modern day Korg Trident with 3 VCOs & Polysix type control of synth section. ...and portamento and Arp features. ...and a nice little display for patch names.

... and perhaps a Monopoly MkII (no changes other than patch storage and Vegas mode)

CS80's require high maintenance and that is probably costly, i would go for the Memorymoon ME80 VST plugin version as it's only 40euros. Well i would but the demo version i downloaded refuses to be recognized by my DAW

I hear the ME80 is far better and closer sounding than Arturia's crappy version.

As for dream synth nah... i don't have one. One can spend all day dreaming about synth's and get nothing done. I'm happy with what i have.

How do you mean?

I guess servicing and repair of it could be a real nightmare if it's a limited run with bespoke parts..

(is that the old video or a new one- if new what's in it? I'm at work and can't wait to find out!!! )

I find the Arturia stuff unstable on any Mac I have tried. Even with my latest Mac Pro and the lates software updates from there website. Still unstable and never really work...

If I had to have a dream synth it would have to be the Jupiter.
I found one for $7k......Was thinking about it but knowing me I will never use it. Would love to hear what one looks like in real life.

$15k for a synth sounds crazy to me. I can't imagine anyone paying $15k for a synth unless you loaded.

right, same as i can't imagine someone paying over $20k for what equates to a summing mixer with total recall.

oh, wait...

kidding.

All this time what I have been trying to do is translate the 7 years ITB to OTB....It just takes time thats all man. It has only been 7 weeks. So I can imagine me in 7 months.
I will get there, no matter what...

In years to come Ill be proud of the hard work.

cool, now if only i can get off my ass and translate ~15 years of OTB to ITB. so many amazing things are possible, but i'm just scratching the surface. i need to read some more manuals myself. if only i had the drive, enthusiasm, and ideas that i had back then... i've got a remix that i need to be working on, but i'm sitting here drinking coffee and arguing about the same old sh't on Gearslutz. ughh.

Well hopefully my Solaris will get delivered this year so that one qualifies for sure.

Other than that...I have been trying really hard to get a Waldorf Q+. Please someone out there take pity on me and sell me one!

I'd really like to have SE Omega or Code, with the CS filters. Gotta win the lottery first...

I have also CS-80 as my number one dream synth but not just because of the sound but because of the all expressive controls you have over the sound. I can't think more direct and expressive instrument than CS-80 for analog synth sounds.

Althought it's well beyond my reach, I can avoid the GAS for it since I already own CS-50 so I can still have the same expressive sounds (less than half the power but yet less than half the troubles! less than half the weight!) and my Generalmusic S3 turbo contains lovely synth sounds and with polyphonic aftertouch so I am not lacking expressive instruments. And guess what, while Generalmusic is just digital synth, the filters are like direct models from the Synthex!

Juno 6 mainly for the variable High Pass Filter. White-face ARP Odyssey is a close second, another model with the rare but extremely useful High Pass Filter.
