What's the prob? You can't clip 32bit floating/swimming point

I think he/she should try balancing the mix,and don't push Plugins to hard.

They're not hardware, you don't get that sweet spot saturation with Plugins like you would with hardware.

Work on loudness once you get a nice and clean mix.

Then insert a limiter and turn the input knob up!

I used to do the Samething, screwing up my mixes.

Used high quality Plugins, some Plugins have a lot of alaising noise!

Demo these compressors and replace all the compressor Plugins you are currently using with these...

Demo waves API 2500,PSP old timer,the glue,vertigo vsc1.

You get 2 weeks of trail time, there known to be very clean compressors.

Ps.you can clip a channel but you can't clip the 32 bit float summing engine.

The channel gets clips before its summed.32 bit float is summing distorted clipped channels, with massive head room to spare!

Lower channel and plugin levels(Plugins can clip to)(they are 32 bit,but not 32 bit 'FLOAT').

THE SUMMING ENGINE IS THE ONLY THING FLOATING...

Just get it summed clean, then turn up the input on the 2 buss limiter!

you open the final wav file in notepad or textedit on a mac, make sure they are set to straight text and not rtf or html or anything else

print it out, fax it to a fax line but here is the crucial part, you need to turn the darkness all the way up BEFORE sending the fax!

so you'll have a vey dense image sound on paper on the other end, scan that into the computer as a pdf and make certain ocr function is enabled, now copy and paste everything from that scanned fax pdf to notepad or textedit and save, rename the file from .txt to .wav

now you have maximun possible analog fax saturation from the phone companie's own boutique analog copper lines!

You should't ask such questions HERE.

You need to post on a Guitar player forum.

Guitar players spend most of their life getting "everthing to sound louder than everything else" [in the immortal words of Ian Gillan].

Anyway: it' simple: you first need to set each track louder than every other track.

Yeah, if you run into problems, just use gain plug ins.

I once had the misfortune of pressing play on someones track online and it nearly killed my speakers. Turns out it had -1 rms.

I think a 0.5db boost at 500hz will make a substantial difference - should get you the loudness you require to beat everyone else's mixes...

What's "moar"? Is that some kind of new maximizer plugin?

It's by Izotope. Replaces the IC3 algo in ozone 5.

Yes It's a new loudness algorithm that combines 'increase' with 'roar' and delivers - 'Moar'. Strap it across your mixbuss and you get volume levels that have real volume 'Growl'. The loudness of your mixes will quite literally frighten people.

Where have you been these last few months, I thought you were a Gearslut?!

Ableton uses 100-pixel meters. You should get a professional DAW that has longer, at least 130-pixel meters for moar louderer tracks. Ableton is as quiet as a deadmouse.

You're onto something there.... But just have him max out the faders, and then throw L2 on each track with a -30 thresh...

Samplitudes are longest. Does this mean its louderer?
