Techstep vs Hardstep

What's the big difference-if any-between those 2?I admit i do not own a PHD on D'n'B albeit i like it a lot, hence the question...
Would you say that the hard-edged songs on Panacea's "Phoenix Metabolism" for instance are labeled Hardstep or Techstep?

I know that a lot of people don't care much about labeling but i'd like a hint or two, for encyclopedic reasons strictly...

Techstep is more tech, and hardstep is more hard.

naw man its all about the Jump Up. But if you really crafty then you could create Tech Jump. Or would it be Jump Tech? Fancy that ya might. It's most likely been done of course.

not sure what techstep is, but hardstep was only popular from like 96-99, ed rush and optical were taking care of that sound.

According the drum and bass annual 1998*, Techstep is a subgenre of Hardstep, which in turn is a Subgenre of Darkcore Jungle.

So..

Darkcore

Hardstep

Techstep

Hardstep sounds different now, so yeah, little to actually differentiate between that and Techstep, though I guess you could say Techstep is more processed.

Doesn't really matter, it's all Jungle/Drum and Bass.

Thanx!I guess it's yet one of those cases where you fart at bar 4 instead of bar 1 & give it a name.We then take on it, make music by placing the same fart on bar 4 & act big at the chicks...

Yeah, it's hardly the definitive example, but it's the right ball park, any opportunity to post it..
