Electronic Dub Bass Sounds

Hey there,

I was wondering if anyone had any specific ideas on how to achieve this sort of electronic dub bass sound?

Vibronics meets Blackboard Jungle - Love & Pray (feat. Anthony John) by Vibronics on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

Splitz Horns Vs Dr. Vax - Hand Made Dub (Vibronics) - YouTube

I have tried using chorused triangle waves and square waves but I can't seem to nail it. I really admire the way the pulses of the synth sound absolutely huuge on a big system..

I am only using soft-synths and I have all the usual - Sylenth, Massive, etc

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried a plain old sine wave?

SH101 and Junos have often been a common source for dubby techno. Use the sub osc.

Pretty sure there are software emulations made by TAL of both but I can't vouch for the quality.

Yes I have tried sines! they do sound good, but I can't quite work out what sort of processing the above has used to create that particular sound.. Does it sound analogue to you? I currently am running camel audio's distortion on it to crunch it up a little and a bit of compression but I doesn't sound like it yet...

They are terrible, imo.

To me it sounded like a filtered square, there's a tiny bit of growl in the sub bass, could be the limiter, could be that it's square.

Otherwise, try a sine wave slightly slightly modulated by a triangle in a FM synth, same ratio.

Chorus is just going to diffuse the strength of sub bass, try using a limiter instead, that will re-enforce it. I see you have camel phat, that can be decent on bass, try it before and after the limiter and you will get that sound soon enough.
