Dark Energy(I/II) or something else. And which drum machine?

Hello, first post here, and i hope that i put it in the right place.

So, i need some advice for which synth i'm going to add to my music, my main influences are The Knife's album Silent Shout, Röyksopp's album Junior, Kent's album Röd and various songs from Iamamiwhoami.

My hardware: Nord 2 Lead Rack and MS2000
Software synths: FM8. I also have Massive, Absynth 4 and Reason which i don´t use. Thinking of getting the MiniMonsta.
Recording: I have Pro Tools, Logic and Ableton, i almost only use Pro Tools because i learned it in school, but i´m thinking of switching to Ableton.

The most important thing for me is to be able to control a lot of things live, and the reason i´m thinking of getting the Doepfer Dark Energy is because that i would run software synths through it to make some nice sounds, i would also use it to control knobs in software synths and make basslines with it.
But the problem would be how i would use the Doepfer live if i wanted to play any part from the software synths with the Doepfer's effects since it can´t store any settings.

So, is there any synth out there which could do the same things but whom can store settings and isn´t to expensive (max 700$). Or do you have a solution to my problem with the Doepfer?

And drums: there is a dosen of drumsynth threads, will look at them instead.

The Dark energy doesn't transmit any midi data for the knob movements, so you won't be controlling any softsynths with it.
But it's a very satisfying little synth IMO.

Perhaps if you can find a Roland Juno 106 for a decent price?

Perhaps you should be looking for a MIDI keyboard with lots of knobs, like the M-audio axiom, or Novation (I forget what it's called) who have the whole Automap software thing for mapping and controlling softsynths.

Maybe one route is to try Ableton together with an APC40 / 20.
