Korg ESX users please read - samples disappearing

Hey guys, I posted this over at the Korg forums but it seems like a dead site now.

Just recently I have started to lose my stereo samples after powering down. Upon restart, the stereo samples are gone. This happens for all the kits I have on the SM card. All stereo samples get deleted after power down.

I haven't changed anything about the kits. They are all under the size limit.

Any ideas what's going on? I'm pulling my hair out!

Just for good measure, I checked all the kits in the Open Electribe Editor and everything checks out.

So it goes like this. I load a kit that contains stereo samples. I power down immediately and power back on. All stereo samples gone. For any and every kit I load up. I've checked every thing I can think of to no avail.

Hi greenears,

Just to make sure- Are you talking about factory samples, or samples that you've added yourself? If they're your own, are you writing them to the memory card before powering off? They are not saved automatically.

Also, is this only happening with stereo samples, and not mono samples?

Thanks,
-Rich

I had this same problem, with stereo samples, using an SM card and kits created in the open electribe editor. Never figured it out, just put my samples in mono.

I had this problem , reformating the card sometimes works, but on the whole i found the sample import on the esx1 to be pretty flaky at times.

Sold mine, nice machine but dont really miss it.

Hey Rich,

These are my samples; kits that I created in the editor and put onto the SM card. So they are already on the memory card. And then loaded onto the ESX. Only happens with the stereo samples, the mono ones are still on the machine.

I'm so stumped. I've been using the editor for years with no issues at all. In fact, I haven't even touched the editor for months because I've only been using the four kits I have on the SM card. Never had this issue before. This weekend was the first time.

I will try reformatting the card since I have all the kits saved. But I really think it's an ESX issue, not a card issue.

The stereo samples are loading up just fine. And as long as the box is on I can jam with them and save them to onboard patterns/songs. But after powering down and back on, they're all gone!
