best looking synth

feeling "shallow" and "to the point". now that that's out of the way, what do you all think is the greatest looking synth ever? not talking functionality. purely cosmetic.

my vote goes to the akai ax80. aesthetically it's the most fun to look at. someone randomly wrote that it looks like the controls to manning the death star and i completely agree. runner up: original nord lead (i'm a sucker for those sexy beveled corners).

Off the top of my head I guess I'm partial to the gray ARP 2600.

probably the jupiter 8, with a close second going to the whiteface odyssey

if you like ax80, maybe you'd like the dx1 too? it's also got crazy screens above everything ha

There are so many great looking synths but first that came to mind was Bugbrand:

Korg PS3300

Its a slab, but I can gaze at it in awe for plenty a moment.

I loved the looks of my Prophet 5. Total Bang & Olufsen 1970s fern bar luxury.

The Jupiter 8 might have the lead, though. Those rainbow colored buttons are a thing of beauty. Similar vibe with the TR-808, even though this isn't a proper synth. The red and blue SH-101s were always easy on the eyes. Roland really had some classic visual designs there for a few years.

The Nord synths always struck me as a cross between a red SH-101 and Moogs. The Nord logo uses a VERY similar font to the Moog logo, and I doubt that this is coincidence.

I once got the advice that when looking for a long-term relationship you shouldn't pick someone who was easy on the eyes, but someone who was easy on the ears.

I think that goes for synths too.

wow that does look kind of cool - it looks like it could be in an arcade plus those colours must make it easy to see in any lighting

I still think the Virus TI Polar is one of the better looking modern synths.

I was going to go with the Whiteout edition of the keyboard:

Blofeld keys looks pretty good IMO. I've always wanted to own one just for its looks. Would make a nice piece in a modern loft-style living room.
