Supposed to be a DX7.

Bonus info: The strings are a combination of JP8 + Emulator II

My recollection from reading an article about the Pet Shop Boys in the 1980's "Music Technology" magazine (the replacement for E&MM) was that they used a Jupiter-6 for the main bass part, layered with a DX-7 bass sound to give more bite and also an Emulator-II kick drum sample to give the bass part some "doof".

:-)

No way. If you can get an AJ to sound like that, I'd like to know the secret. Don't think it was even on the market when that song came out.

Always thought it was a Moog of some sort, but the layered Emulator trick is plausible.

They used tons of emulator on their records as did Depeche Mode at that time. I think wiki says both groups sold 80 million records each. A lot of records I was suprised by the numbers.

Was the quiet bloke pretty good with technology?
