Didn't realize there were so many GS folks who owned this monstrosity.

One of my favorite synths.

Getting there!!

Hey all A6ers!

I have gotten lots of responses elsewhere as well!

I have not gotten many recommendations as to the best communication system to guarantee that ALL users from GS, Vintage Synth, Electro-music, etc. receive the proposal in one go if only for practical purposes.

I believe in honesty and transparency and have zero tolerance for ill opportunism, as such I always try my best to make decisions based on the fairest manner possible and considering the greater common good at all times... THUS I am leaning towards the decision to lay down my proposal for you using the already existing A6 mailing list.
  • While I am personally relatively new to the list, this group has been in existence since at least june 2002.
  • Many of you are already members of that list.
  • Many of the greatest A6 synth culture and technical contributors have been in that list for a long time, including the creators of that list and the creators of great patches and documentations.
  • It's better that we gather in one central place for further discussion on the project.
  • Personally, I have NEVER observed any undesirable behaviors in that list. Members of that list are usually kind and no misuse has been reported to my knowledge.
  • It's email based.
  • It's not a bad thing at all such a list gets a new infusion of members.

I think this is the fairest decision I can make. As you know, no massive PMing is allowed in gearslutz.com. It would be a TOTAL PAIN to write PMs in sets of 5 by 5... not happening. Sorry in advance. I also don't want to act as an agent and give preference to any forum and force fellow users to anything that would seem questionable as to my integrity and ethics.

So, unless there is a powerful reason or objection any of you want to communicate ASAP, please go ahead and add yourselves to the list here:

a6 Info Page

Please do subscribe NOW and remind your fellow users to do that asap as we continue to grow as a user group. Maybe send an email to the list to introduce yourselves and confirm membership.

Please do consider that regardless of my project, being all together in one place IS a good thing as a community of users of our beloved A6.

PS: I will spam this thread with this very same post a few times to raise notice.

Hail to the A6 I say!!

I don't know about anyone else but I am not just going to throw my name on a mailing list just to hear your proposal. You got the 100 people interested you asked for. This is a public forum. Post your idea here. Post it also in whatever other forums you feel appropriate. There is no reason to do so just on a mailing list.

If your project is worthwhile you will have no shortage of enthusiastic supporters and likely many more converts to your cause.

Sure. Let me reiterate, I am open to suggestions for ONE PLACE. I won't use several places, it's simply not efficient.

seems kind of counter-intuitive to not want your message on as many places as possible...you have an innovation for a very complex machine like the A6 but you are defeated by the concept of cntrl c + cntrl v?

write it once and then promote it everywhere you don't have to redo your spiel each time

the mailing list has been around forever but this is by far this most active community with A6 users - the mailing list has been pretty quiet for a long time

I understand but in the following days I will be super busy on personal work matters, I am telling you in advance I just won't be able to keep up with over 300 people wanting answers in several places, no matter how much I would like to. i don't think it's possible, honestly.

Unity and proactivity, these are basic ingredients for a community driven project.

The decisions will be made together as a team and community. Just imagine if Vintage Synth members want one thing, but GSers or the A6 list or Electro-music want another!! It would be impossible to mediate in that situation. It's better that we all vote in one single place.

Let's make it happen together:

That's what I am talking about!!! YES!
The list has about over 200 members btw.

Of course, those who don't subscribe will still be invited later on, but won't be able to participate in the decision process.

I will see that my contacts are added to the list as well, so that we can discuss the project.

It's not a life-changing project, but it's a precedent of what we can do when we pull together as a team!

Project to be announced and discussed here:
a6 Info Page
chime in asap!

Just post it here. If you don't, someone else will repost it here so stop wasting everyone's time already.

Don't worry. The way you are handling this already says enough...

It's not only me. We need to show unity and proactiveness if we are to be taken seriously as a community of users of this synth.
Unity? Unity for what? Just post your idea already...

So post here. This is where you started. Just continue...

It doesn't have to be that list if you don't want to, but it has to be one place, so we ALL involved receive the feedback and questions from ALL involved, and so all the decisions are made as group!
Err.... how about.... right here?

This is the strangest thread ive participated in in years. Is this because you want members for a mailinglist? Or start the biggest A6-club around?

Just post it. Here. Less trouble than explaining yourself 20 times.

Dear Madam and Sir

My name Quaman N'Gile appointed Attorny of Nigeria Synthsize Compartment.

We have descoverd in our deposit new unrevealed OS for Andromeda A6, Jupiter 8, Yamaha CS 80, Allah, Buddha and Shiva.

Please disclose buisiness address so we can tranfer license worth 100.000.000.000 $ in words
ONEHUNDREDBILLIONSOUNDS to your studio.

We only demand every 6th note from your tunes immedeatly.

Sincerely,

Quaman N'Gile
Attorny Secondary Chief General
Nigeria Synthsize Compartment

I think if the idea isn't disclosed here as promised after the 100th A6 user the whole thing must be considered just trolling. No, I dont think it is trolling but it comes across as trolling and SPAM
All you risk if you disclose your idea is that people either go "booh" or "woot"
the more fuzz you make about it the more people will be disspointed or sceptical in the end no matter what it is
btw I dont have an A& but I am slightly curious
maybe I can steal your idea ... mwoohahaha

Dear Madams and Sires,

My name not Quaman N'Gile, appointed Attorny of Nigeria A6 Synthsize Compartment, you are funny indeed, and I have a little teaser of the initial reception of the project for you

Teaser for you madams and gentlemen:

welcome! thanks much guys.

here is a mailing list (a6 Info Page) where the project will be disclosed to members of that list, and all new subscribers coming from gearslutz, vintage synth, electro-music, etc.

I don't control that list, but it's a dedicated list for this synth since 2002, and I think it's a suitable way for further communications on the topic, among other obvious benefits:

a6 Info Page

thanks and see ya'll there soon!

good luck for your enterprise or non profit project
I am still curious what it is but as a non A6 owner it would be sick to join that group just to find out
what I was trying to say is that I probably wouldn't subscribe to the list even if i was an owner
cause I would relay on the fact that word of it will spread when its time
anyway, of course it makes sense to put what ever it is to an A6 centric board
good luck

electro-music is the place for A6 gathering. I agree with everyone else here already. just post it here or there. I'm not getting on yet another email list JUST to hear what this is.

you got 100+ users here.

i doubt whether you've got more than a handful anywhere else.

quit pissing people off and post your idea here.

i'd do it pretty soon if i were you as the stench of scepticism is getting pretty strong around here...

So you ask what people want and then completely disregard them and do your own thing. Great start to your project!
