Streets of Philadelphia pad synth?

I hate to start this type of thread but I googled and searched the forums with no luck.

Does anyone know what synth/keyboard was used for the pad sound used throughout the song?

I read once that it was a demo that Bruce Springsteen did for the producers of the film in his home studio, and that it was an Oberheim.

That's going from memory, and zero research.

I always thought it sounded a lot like the Warm Strings Peformance from the DX7IID - probably not though

Yeah it´s a sparse arrangement and quite some demo productions were released as final mixes (after additional mixing/mastering). I recall, that for example Celine Diones Titanic theme as we know it was the demo with the vocal scratch takes. As always, performance is the key.

Same here.

On a tangent, Born in the USA's main synth riff is CS80..
