Midi syncing

Hi a bit of a novice just wondering how you midi sync two bits of hardware say a xoxbox and a drum machine so they play in time with each other with out using a computer.

One will have to be set as the sync master, so pick the one you want to press "PLAY" from and run a midi cable from its' midi OUT to the midi IN of the other device. On the "master" device go into the options menu, usually under the category of SYNC or MIDI will be an option for SYNC OUTPUT that you want to set to ON or TRUE or whatever means YES. On the "slave" device (midi cable is feeding the midi IN of this unit), find the MIDI or SYNC menu and find an option allowing you to RECEIVE (or RX) SYNC or it may be that you have to set SYNC to EXT for external.

The easy part is picking one for Master (sync source) and Slave, and running a midi cable from Master Midi OUT to Slave Midi IN. The tricky part tends to be finding all the right menu settings in both devices so that one is sending sync and the other is receiving. For your particular hardware I have no idea what the menu settings are specifically called but the first paragraph should put you in the right vicinity.
