I´ve got 3 different types of project folders; beats, melody and song. If I feel like banging out some beats I do only that. The drums will be hitting hard and have the right frequencies. Silly to make them try and "fit in" somewhere by force. Same with melody. I do the progressions, melody and bass, plus build patches for the synths. Song folder contains "beats" and "melodies" that fit together. They´ve been matched by bouncing loops from beats and melody projects.
