Fxpansion Geist - crappy FX? Reverb = B-Reverb?

I have tried Geist with its internal effects and they seem to sound crappy.

But most of all, it is claimed that the reverb should be B-Reverb, but I dont remember B-Reverb sounding so cheap and flat.

What do you think?

Sorry, I haven't used Geist but I wasn't too impressed by the FX in Guru, I thought they had upgraded to DCAM's FX for Geist?

I havent noticed that. Maybe I should check their side. The main point is: If the FX are crap, you cannot produce stand alone, you always need to render all drums individually. In this case, the whole concept is crappy. What do you gain? You wanna get rid of your main sequencer while producing the drum grooves, but this works well only if the effects are on a acceptable level.

The effects suite in Geist is from the same DCAM suite used in BFD2, DCAM Synth Squad, and Tremor. Generally they are well regarded to the extent that we often have people asking us to make them available as separate plugins.

Beverb is indeed in Geist. (and BFD2, and SynthSquad)

There is also TinCanVerb, an FXpansion enhanced version of Freeverb, which isn't as realistic but is great for freeze and artificial sounding 'verbs.

Standalone production is definitely one of the most important use-cases for Geist - hence why the onboard sequencer has "graphs" which can be used to automate effects parameters.

I love my Geist minus the issue with Ableton causing it to skip the first beat no matter where I press play from (if I press play on Ableton)

I'm new to Geist and tremor but I like them both a lot. My only problem with the fx is I want more of them .

I don't expect the fx to compete with separate plug ins just that they do the job or at least can add to sound design a bit.

The problem with the fx in geist is that they look crappy but sound great! Don't let your eyes deceive you ;-)

Meanwhile, the reverb looks a bit better, the room algo is quite ok, usable!

The channel compressor seems better than the bus comp, that was my impression at least.
