im guessing your local power is around 220-240v? not sure if you can switch on the unit. that said, a stepdown transformer wont cost you more that $80

Well, the manual says:

Power Supply:
AC 117 V, AC 230 V, AC 240 V

So I would guess there was a way to switch between the voltages, but I can't find any info in the manual...

Open it up and look for a switch in the powersupply circuit?

The JP-8080 (not the 8000) has an auto-switch mains - just plug her in with the correct mains lead for your country!

Mine reads: 100-240v AC.
