I'm not sure how long I can hold out either. I've a birthday coming up soon. Perhaps if I'm extra nice to my wife she'll buy me a MiniBrute.
Nahhhhh.... she's never bought me anything musical or spent that much money on me. I'll have to buy it myself.
Besides, I can't be extra nice for two whole months.

And the external input is great, I can always run an oscillator from another synth into it to get the 5th, though honestly i'll probably just use another analog synth for that. It'll most definitely make its way into my songs. Its completely worth $499. Its amazing for $499. Not sure I'd pay $799 though if you know what i mean, unless its tone turns out to be exceptionally better than other easily available analogs in the mix or something. . | Don't forget it's a single osc synth.

I preordered in January but apparently AudioMIDI.com never received any (or if they did they didn't receive enough to fulfill their preorders) and doesn't expect to get any soon. I canceled my order. I'm still going to get one, but I can wait until general availability.

-andrews | Hey, you're an "older" guy.... Don't some of the sounds remind you of FM, even though the machine has no FM? Not too shabby for a cheap synth.
Interesting. Everything comes around again...

Well was lucky enough to score a minibrute over the weekend
Not many if any available in LA, at the moment.
My initial thoughts, feels pretty solid for such a cheap analog
The key,s feel pretty cheap, the LFO controls are too sensative
For my liking, you have to route it to the mod wheel to get any
Useful pitch to LFO happening, other than that it,s pretty cool.
It kind of reminds me of my much belove and sadly departed
Roland SH-1 , but with more features and a roudier filter,
It can definetly sound in the same ball park.
The LFO to Arp sync feature is something I have not seen in many
Analog synths, it can do some pretty crazy stuff.
To me it has kind of a growly chipmunk vibe to it
Like a chipmunk with rabies, gopher with enormous razor sharp fangs.
LOL, it,s definetly not a gentle synth
I guess they called it MiniBrute for a reason
I,m digging it

Anyway, didn't know that FM synthesis was exclusively kept just for the "older" guys. I can program a DX-7 and I swear to you, i'm in my 30-ties.

Well I finally got the Minibrute into the studio tonight
And used it on a track I,m working on.
I have to say I,m completely blown away.
This thing is awsome, it can do some amazing arp
Tricks, with the LFO synced to arp.
And the timing is impecable using MIDI.
I,ve found my to go to synth for high twinkly
Arps.
And for the record, it can do clean superbly
Holds it,s own against much more expensive synths.
I think a lot of the complaints about the demos on youtube
About harshness probably have more to do with the
Abuse of the brute/ metallizer/ excessive resonance used.
If you treat it like an analog mono, and put it through say
A roland space echo it does wonders.
Anyway one happy camper here, was just what my track needed

LK | This begs the question: Is the MiniBrute Don Solaris worthy? Reptil worthy? Or are they too jaded.

There is a knob that defines timing derivetives of the clock.
When the LFO switch is set from Free to Arp the
LFO speed knob also changes in timing increments
So you can get some pretty pulsing arps, especially
If you set the LFO to SAW.
So the LFO slaves to the arp, but has selectable timings
And likewise the ARP slaves to MIDI and also has selectable timings.
Make sense?

so the arp note-on triggers the phase of the LFO to reset? so if you have the arp set to 16ths, the LFO would basically trigger in 16ths? or does it just gate the signal of the LFO intermittently throughout its cycle?

Guys, if you were to buy this synth planning to later expand it using the CV outs, what would your next purchase be? I was thinking along the lines of a Dark Energy for an extra oscillator and a different filter. Other suggestions?

Best thing about this synth is the price point. Otherwise get a P08 and a good analog distortion pedal and you're set.
Its sound def stands up to much more expensive synths, which is an amazing accomplishment, and it will definitely make it into several of my songs. But the limits make it an add-on only synth imo. Not your go-to analog.

I.e the arp is playing 16ths, but the LFO can be set to 8ths etc
