I'm dreaming of a Minibrute + Boomstar setup right now, I'm hoping that'll be my setup sometime next year (+DW8000 for poly duties). So why not have both.
So I ordered the Minibrute and will keep the Boomstar on pre-order in true GS fashion.
And FYI to anyone wanting to get one. Musicians Friend is having a 15% off sale till 7-30. And they were kind enough to apply it to the pre-order. So for $425 and a ship date of 8-17, I'd say it's a good time to get one.
What is the deal with people placing drinks near their new Minibrutes in these vids? Seems like I 've seen a couple like that-- Oops= sad times!
lol --What would Mom say?
A nice smooth tone BTW. not sure if I want to wait
When is "late August" anyway? Is that like the 12th of never? Har!

I tried this, but only got that the item doesn't apply message. What am I doing wrong?
Don't you know that if you invoke his name you might summon him? Like Hastor in the old Cthulhu novels . Do we really want that? Actually he hasn't posted in months that I have seen.

The system won't do it automatically, you will have to actually call in. It is something they will have to override.

Hehe, he does usually have some points though, based on his own experiences. He's a straight shooter, for better or worse
Yea, he might like the synth, it has analog resonance(!), and kinda sounds a bit Rolandish to me, anyone agree? Mind you, I haven't heard it in person. Or did anyone say ARP-like previously? I never heard an ARP in person, though I guess that's not exactly Roland-like.
Not that it matters a whole lot, I'm just curious how people would describe the sound, in relation to others

He hasn't made any posts since March 30th. Busy on an album/tour, sitting out a ban, who knows. His acct says activity yesterday but it's clearly not posting activity.
Hmm, I predict he will like it if you can open the filter all the way up
One of the few demos I found that uses the brute without just scratching.
The brute without the brutishness. I knew it can do that.
There is definitely some reverb or delay on this, can anyone who has heard the Minibrute in person tell me if they hear some other subtle effects or compression on this? The low end sounds remarkably smooth. I find there are definitely some ranges where the sub oscs shine, and they aren't all the way down on the keyboard at -2 octave range. Most of my (admittedly novice) programming finds me thinking the low end is a bit shaky (as Automatic Gainsay says, "Down to the clicks.") I will try to recreate the patches I see in the video this weekend and see what i can see (or hear what I can hear, rather). I wish I could see the whole gear setup!
Did anyone buy theirs from proaudiostar? They supposedly have them in stock via eBay, but I paid for mine almost a week ago and they still haven't shipped it. They are blaming it on a new inventory system, and the promise to ship out "tomorrow at the latest" is what I've been getting from them every day this week.

Yes, I live a mile away and I walked in to the store and bought one. They have new computer check out software and I think it's glitchy. They couldn't process my order and had to circumvent their system to get my card authorized. They had plenty of them in stock it looked like.
Well after years of only digital the minibrute has bitten me hard. I just bought this off ebay for $620, shipped:
Seller said it's brand new, so I'm thinking it's a pretty good deal. I also picked up a laptop stand for $30 that will allow me to lift the SP over the Minibrute. I'm thinkink it should look pretty awesome. Plan is to feed the Minibrute audio in from the Moog, unless you guys think I should keep em seperate? Still new to all of this and I think I'm done with analog Monos for awhile. I can't afford the big boy stuff like the voyager or a nice modular but I think the Brute + SP is a pretty sick little combo.
By the way this little monster can do more than what those built in presets show you. The parameters (like cutoff, resonance, etc) can be modulated via USB MIDI, so you can modulate those from your DAW with something like MIDIShaper or a knob on your controller. The problem is that you have to find out their mapping one by one (check manual) or you can buy the soft editor and modulate the knobs their which is much easier. This is usually done with the expensive CP-251. But you can do similarly (not exactly) with MIDI.
Also, you probably know that it has the same exact engine as the stage two little phatty, so almost any thing that you see anyware about the LP applies to SP. Checkout Jordan Rudess demo on you tube.
I don't care for the notch filter or the Brute factor.
The Metalizer sounds great and makes up for it!
Don't care for the brute factor? DUUuuuudddeeeeee crank up the resonance and find the balance between the cutoff, resonance, and brute factor... there are some insane things that occur when you get the balance just right...
I definitely have found some electric guitar sounds with brute factor and the high pass and band pass filters with healthy resonance.
Me too. Totally have made some cheesy pseudo crunchy guitar riffs with this thing - tons of fun.
On an unrelated note - so we've established that the PWM envelope knob is looser by design. I'm okay with that, I don't really care - but can anyone with more synth experience explain why would this be beneficial?

There is a chip between the pots for ultrasaw and PWM that isn't between any other potentiometers. The PWM has a smaller, different pot. It feels different because it is different, and was probably just the easiest and cheapest part sourced to fit around that chip.
Chris is likely right here. I havent looked at the pot but it could be a different pot value or different taper with the cheapest one a smaller and looser pot.
I don't see a problem with only one OSC. The ARP Axxe and Roland SH-09 only have one OSC and they sound great...the Micromoog not so much, but it's still a usable synth.

Ah Hah!!! So that is why that stinkin knob is so loose!!! Nice research kiddo, I was a bit worried about that knob like most other brute owners but with that picture it all makes sense.

To be fair, this same image was shown in one of the two now merged threads, and I couldn't find the original post. So, I was just clarifying what was pointed out previously.
