Not having heard "Angela" or taxi theme for years it just totally took me back 25 years...Wow... It's a superb piece of writing and made me realize how void of atmosphere most music is these days....
Lovely.

def...great musicians too - I've been listening to a lot of late 60s early 70s music recently and am struck at how much genuine heart , soul and intent went into the music. Always leaves me feeling very uplifted and positive...basically good music can only be good if its made for the right reasons.
nice tune to start this rainy grey day with too
Rhodes goodness starts at 3:40 or so, but listen to it in its entirety if you have the time.

the Lp the tune is from is Mwandishi, I think it got rereleased as part of a collection"the Warner Years" or something like that this is sort of like ground aero for subsequent Rhodes development, if you listen to Herbie's solo, which is not the first thing.. admittedly it had been around before that but his solo is compendium of techniques. Mwandishi was Hancock's best work IMO and all the Mwandidhi albums have much to recommend them and a lot of Rhodes.. as well as synth and early modular from Pat Gleeson.I'm sure many here are aware of this but there may be some that are not.
Elec piano in general, you can learn a lot from Sun Ra's Wurlitzer on "Advice To Medics" in "Supersonic Sounds", recorded in the latter 1950s!
A couple of those mentioned are Wurlys. What You Say by Ray Charles and Where's It At by Beck are both Wurlys. I've also always thought that Pink Floyd's Money was a Wurly with a wah wah, but I could be wrong about that one.
Riders on The Storm, Daniel, and Just the Way You Are are just a few of my favorites.
I love the sound of the keyboard on Editions of you by roxy music,
Does anyone know what it is? Wurlitzer perhaps?
Sounds more like a Wurli than a Rhodes to me, I'm not sure though, but there is a live version of that song on youtube (Eno is there too, but Ferry is the one playing the EP), can't post a link from work but try to find it and see if you can ID it.

Hmm, never crossed my mind, and that's another possibility, haven't re-checked the video though , trying to use my home computer the least possible this week

With Some close inspection I think it could be a Hohner Pianet. Certainly sounds like one anyway!
Ha, my immediate choices were the theme to Taxi and the swirling phased comps on Steely Dan's Peg. Seeing so many chime in on Taxi warmed my heart. Rosalinda's Eyes on 52nd Street maybe?
But for rock Wurli, you have to go with Supertramp. Start with Goodbye Stranger, and either work your way forward or backward.
Herbie's stellar rhodes solo. the way he enters has become a cliche in most rhodes solo's. Enter at 2.55 (at 4.55 there's a special till 5;30 after that herbie stretches some more.
My favourite song when i was five Geez, we were really spoilt by good harmonies/chords back then, the modern pop stuff is just so dull harmonically, it doesn't get through to my heart, as my heart was tempered by Maj7's and suspensions.

+1 thanks to Beermaster for posting - I've been playing this for 20 odd years and I've never actually heard the full length version recorded for the show before - so I really mean thanks
