good - I hate synths were you have to use software editors to get full range of sound...

If I can I'm going to keep the SH-2 and sell other stuff and save for voyager rack, as long as the rack version is not missing any game changing features of the full KB version? The voyager seems way more versatile esp for leads, but there is something about the upfront rawness of the SH-2 that makes me want to hang onto it until I can get both together for a test. feeding the voyager through the SH-2 could be very interesting also...

you mentioned the sans amp bass drive - but I've found pedals a bit 'hissy' in the past, how well does the sans amp perform?

thanks for the help guys...

Try before you do any kind of change!!!

Don't make mistake I made. I traded ATCX for SH2 without long proper tryout.

I got faster and...well... better envelopes, and terrific sounding synth inside out, but I still miss an ATCX's enormous sound palette, soft sound, mod routings and so on.

yeah def not going to get rid of it to buy a Voyager - Voyager won't be bought for a good 6 months or so I recon.

has anyone on here opened up their SH2 to clean under the keys? did you unscrew it from the top panel where the sliders are, if so did your knobs just come straight off (the ones for saw/square etc) coz mine are not coming off easy and don't want to force them.... anyone done this?

am sure mine needs some tuning but not really confident enough to do that myself - seem reports on here that its not actually that simple.

I sold my SH5 and even my MKS80 can't do the bass like the SH5 could. Keep your SH2. two killer oscillators.

I have a Voyager, and it is the best monosynth of all time as far as I am concerned. It is a perfect balance of everything and the sound is absolutely, 100% Moog fat disgustobot analog. I sold my Source, Little Phatty and Micromoog when the voyager got here, it's that good. All of that being said, I still want an SH2. Badly. They are phenomenally funky synths. Nowhere near Voyager, but that is a good thing. I wouldn't sell yours for a Voyager because they can definitely coexist very effectively. That is actually my dream combo of monos. Plus it did the bass sound on Sweet Dreams... what more reason does one need to justify having one?? :D

I'm still mulling over what to do a bit...

Very reluctant to let the SH-2 go, have been enjoying it (got used for helicopter noises this week ha ha) - what I'm going to do is get the thing a decent tuning/calibration/service (I got mine a good £300 cheaper than the current crazy evilbay prices so its worth it for me) - then spend more time with it in full working order to see what I think.

current uk prices for ARP AXXE's are £400 ish in good working order (thinking of selling bass station KB, and maybe even micro korg xl to fund), so might add one of those in the mix for a bit rather than cash on a Voyager rack.

between the SH2 and the AXXE am thinking I'd have a lot of mono usage covered. thoughts??

please don't get me wrong, voyager sounds the bizznezz but if I saved up 1k for it (which would take a while for me right now without selling the SH2) I'd be tempted to carry on saving for even longer so i could get one of my 'dream' poly synths like a OBX/OBXa.

or, should I forget about the AXXE/voyager, have my SH2 as my only mono and save like a demon for a OB-X now ha ha it never ends.

The Gearslutz conclusion was it was an SH-09 (my first synth and still in my possession ).
