Spectralis 2 Help Needed. Formatting Cards and "BAD DEVICE"

Hello Spectralis 2 owners. I need your help. Recently all my factory settings on my internal compact flash card got wiped out. I'm not sure how but they are gone. Anyway, I've opened up the Speckie and replaced the internal 4GB compact flash card with another 4GB compact flash. No matter what I do I can't get the Spectralis 2 to recognize ANY compact flash cards. This is VERY frustrating. They work fine in my PC. Also, the same goes for any new SD cards I try. Every time I try to browse the disc it always says BAD DEVICE. I can't even format. HEEEEELP! I'm totally stuck.

There are a few speccy users here but your best bet is to post this over at the Radikal Rechnologies forum - there are a few users who post regularly there...

Does anyone have further info on this? There are only a couple threads over at the Radikal Technologies forum and there are no solid answers.

How can I format a new Compact Flash so that it will read it? Formating in the machine does not work.

Could one of you kind Spectralis 2 owners make an exact copy of your factory files on your internal compact flash card and email it to me?

Thanks

I thought fellow Spectralis 2 users might appreciate knowing what happened with my "BAD DEVICE" issue. I contacted Joerg directly at Radikal Technologies. He was kind enough to send out a factory replacement compact flash card no charge with data pre-loaded on it. He was pleasant to deal with. However, it took quite a while for it to be shipped (about a month with no confirmation if it was shipped or not) but once shipped it arrived quickly and did the trick. In the end I'm happy. I'm still confused though why two compact flash cards (one of which was sealed and brand new) could not be read or formated by the Spectralis 2. They worked completely fine in every computer I tried. Using two different PC's and a netbook I tried every formatting type known to man to get these cards to work. Always... "BAD DEVICE".

All's well that ends well.

Jorg is always very pleasant to deal with. I've contacted him twice and received an answer extremely fast, always very helpful! Glad you solved the issue

I've been unable to join the Radikal Tech forums. I never received my membership confirmation. Mailed Joerg 'n' all. That was 2 months ago.

Shame because I was seriously in the market for a speccie and this did not inspire confidence. I bought a Tempest instead.

Myself and pretty much anyone else who's tried to join the forum has had the same issue. I had to email him twice, the first time I didn't get a reply. I'm not sure if Jorg himself is in charge of this, or if some forum moderator isn't doing his job, but it was pretty frustrating. That said, just email him again and I'm sure he'll respond to you. The guy probably gets a large volume of emails a day, it's possible he just missed you or something. I do agree it seems unprofessional, but I eventually got in so I'm not too upset over the experience.
