newbie recording synths help

I have a lot of outboard synths (old analogs) and would like to make sure i'm getting the best AD/DA recordings of them. Basically i've just been using my mixer -> motu 828 -> Mac computer and now i'd like to upgrade. I've been saving up and my budget is 2-3.5k

I've been eyeing the zed r16 since it seems pretty straightforward, but not sure of the ad/da's. I've heard apogee ensembles are good but super pricey.. plus would i have to plug all my synths into the back and then monitor everything via software?

Or do i get something like an RME ufx and then get additional channels through adat io? If so what additional hardware would you suggest??

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!!

I have a ufx, amazing sound quality and then i use a presonus faderport, i would like more slider channels but its all about audio quality at the end of the day, i doubt the r16 would match the ufx in that area but the audio quality is supposedly good on the r16 and the hands on/faders is of course great, but i guess i did go with the ufx at the end of the day, im happy!!! Maybe demo both>either is a good choice

Ahh, so something like the presonus would be handy. Is this how the rest of you folks do it? Or do you do it all in software?
