Love the Monotron. But...

Why the hell is the amplifier so noisy? I mean, the oscillator and filter sounds amazing, and I would love to use this thing to filter external sounds. But how am I supposed to do that when it also injects a ridiculous amount of white noise?

Oh, and the filter is mono right? Well then how do I filter a stereo source? I have a Slim Phatty too and would like to filter some things with it but how am I supposed to do that to a stereo source?

The Monotron's noisyness is a common complaint. I just dial down the high frequencies on my mixer and it becomes a non-issue.

Although like Rogue AI says, I don't think I'd want to run a Slim Phatty through it. Cheap casio keyboards, on the other hand... :D

If I had a Slim Phatty the last thing I would want to do it run it through the noisy amp that is in the Monotron.

Monotribe is not nearly as noisy. Tons of features over the Monotron with the same filter.
Just a thought.

Why do you want to have a mono synth in stereo?

The monotribe audio in is more like an ext noise source for the synth voice - you can't hear the input separate from the synth.

I'm wondering if Korg fixed the noisiness in the 2nd run Monotrons (the ones with the delay or extra oscillator). It's still a 1/8th" plug like the original, but they seem to have changed the voice architecture at least a little bit, because it looks like they include the better tuning/ribbon touch behavior from the Monotribe.

Once again .. .why I kinda hate Korg and it's take on "box synths"

So close .. but such a toy. It all started with the first Electribes and it's never changed since...

Even the KPR-77 kinda sucks when I think about it

You'd have to admit that the Electribes are much more usable than the Monotron.
