Sampleism - Competition Winners Announcement

Hello Sample Crew!

Well, you are probably aware that Sampleism has recently been running a competition to find some of the best independent library developers there is to find.

Sampleism is all about creating cool, unique pocket-sized instruments and libraries and we specialise in giving talented developers a central outlet for their sounds.

Wow - We have received some amazing entries and we are very proud to announce the winners here.

In 3rd Place is a little known developer going by the name of MA Simon. He uploaded a pack for Kontakt called Harmonic Wineglass which contains 8 wonderful atmospheric patches. The kit is expressive and rich in sound. It is a multi-sampled (24bit 44100) Glass Harmonica with real style. Well done to MA Simon he wins a Bronze account on Sampleism.

In 2nd Place is another new-comer System Effect. This is another Kontakt gem and is truly awesome. He recorded 2,870 individual 24bit samples of the legendary Pro 1 Analog Synthesizer. Nearly all presets have 4 x round Robins on every note for complete authenticity with every key sampled for a huge sonic range of 7 octaves! On average 340 samples per preset. All samples were recorded through a Neve 73 pre-amp going into a UBK Fatso analog compressor (lightly touched) with subtle UBK Fatso tape saturation. No plugins or anything digital touched these recordings! The result is outstanding! System Effect wins a Sampleism Silver Account.

The Winner is somebody you may have already heard of - Tronsonic - What can we say? He obviously puts a lot of effort into creating his amazing Kontakt Instruments. The pack he submitted is called The Dark Horse - Featuring the raw unfiltered sawtooth and square waveforms, plus white noise from the amazing analogue Kawai 100f synth, sampled through 60s valve equipment to worn tape, to emulate the sound of the mellotron. Mapped to Kontakt 4.2.2, Esx24, Nnxt and Structure, with 350 different patches (175 each for Kontakt and Esx24). Some very surprising and interesting new sounds from this little known synth - it goes to show that there are some fantastic sounding oscillators hidden away in obscure instruments like this one. Tronsonic wins a Sampleism Gold Account which means he gets unlimited storage and earns 90% for every sale he makes so I'm sure you will be hearing much more from Tronsonic in the future at Sampleism.

Honourable Mentions..
T.D. Samples - Tim Donovan creates very unique packs for Sampleism including some cool little Kontakt Instruments. Check him out, his Enigmatic Phrases speech pack is highly regarded.

Yuroun Sound Design - Currently has 3 amazing sound design packs on Sampleism for Kontakt and Alchemy. Atmospheric soundscapes are the name of the game here and his sound design skills are in high demand.

Sampleism is very proud to announce that we now have some of the finest Developers and Designers creating profiles and distributing their sounds via our site.

We are planning a series of reviews in Computer Music magazine in the near future and are constantly adding new features to the site to make it easier to use for both customers and developers. Very soon, we aim to have a set of statistical tools available that will allow premium members to track sales, page views, preview downloads etc over an adjustable time period. This will be very useful if you run any promotions or discounts and want to see the results of your efforts. In the near future we will also implement the ability to promote kits to the 'featured kits' area of the site to gain extra exposure and we are also developing a credit system and voucher code system that will be announced when the time is right.

We are actively looking for new developers to join the community so please get in touch if you want more information - We are very keen to talk to you to find out what you like, dislike or desire.

Here's a quick breakdown of some of the Developers using Sampleism right now!

WM Entertainment

Ubber Sonic
Hard dance loops packs a speciality

Michael Bietenholz
In my opinion, one of the greatest Kontakt developers there is. He makes small, affordable and highly playable Instruments and his output is varied and very creative. His Resonator Instrument is a best seller

Dual Shaman

Ged Leitch
Ged makes house construction kits and loops of distinction and pure style.

Marco Scherer
He only has one kit online at the moment but it's a true gem. An MPC style drumkit for Battery

Mark Palenik

Joel Pracht

Synthetic Samplers
Synthetic Samplers has only 1 kit on Sampleism but we love it! A brilliantly executed Tetra Sampler Instrument for Kontakt and EXS24. These instruments sound amazing, they are lush, warm, alive and expressive - everything you would imagine an analog synth to be. Nearly 500MB in size (compressed!)

Audio Zombie
Wow - we love Audio Zombie. He's a prolific and highly skilled developer with 13 Kits online ranging from Trance, Atmospherics, Percussion Loops, Drum n Bass, Electro Arps and Synths in any number of different formats - Kontakt EXS24, WAV and Midi.

The kit was recorded in a professional studio and multisampled in great detail, featuring up to 30 velocity layers per drum, and full control over close mic and overhead levels. There are also controls over compression, saturation and optimised EQ settings. Studio Seven Drums is great for producing real 'live' sounding drum tracks for all styles of music and unpacks to nearly 600MB in size!

Synth Magic
Now here is a developer that is truly special. Synth Magic creates Kontakt instruments based on rare vintage synths and instruments. They are breath-taking in scope, design and sound. Current packs include a Virtual ARP Quadra and a true recreation of the Jen SX1000

Pingu
Pingu develops brilliant Kontakt Instruments. Current packs include Bowed Cymbals - One of the weirdest sounds you'll get from an acoustic instrument - cymbals played with violin and cello bows. Extended Piano Techniques - 4 Kontakt instruments, each made from playing the insides of a Yamaha C3 piano. Whirly Tubes - a kit created from the recordings of corrugated plastic tubes! Amazing!.

Wave Shaper Kit
Creates brilliant little WAV drumkits from obscure and quirky analog machines with real warmth and character and the prices are incredible!

Alive Machine
A true sound designer - Alive Machine develop WAV collections from his own field recordings of various items and locations. Their Bio-Kit combines palm tree leaves with granular synthesis to create a unique set of SFX.
