What headphones should I get? Live/Traveling

Hey guys, Im gonna pick myself up some headphones for x-mas but I dont know what to get.. These are what I got at the moment;

Shure Americas | SRH840 Professional Monitoring Headphones

I can't really give a price range atm, but nothing crazy (thousands).

I don't know if its any help but this is the kind of stuff im doing;

Trapzoid's sounds on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

Its a bit of a weird question, but I couldnt think anywhere else to ask..

I recommend you listen to a number of phones at a shop. I found it easy to say which sounded better or worse for me.

I would recommend the DT-990 BUT this has an open design so you cannot use it live.
The DT-770 is the closed version. The sound is less natural because it is a closed design. The bass in the DT-770 is massive.
Both are robust. I wonder however if the locking mechanism where you adjust the phones to your head size could wear out after a while.
I had the impression that this adjustment goes to easy.

I never heard the KRK headphones but you may want to listen to those if you have a chance.

There's a pretty big difference between headphones for producing music while you're on the road and DJ headphones. If you want the former, I'll second the DT-770's, I have these and they are great, especially if you need to work in a place that's loud as they have good isolation. Once you learn them it won't be too hard to translate mixes from your headphones to your studio for mixing. For DJ'ing, you'll probably want something that's very durable, with rotating cups. I don't have any suggestions for DJ headphones, but brands like Allen & Heath and Denon are good places to start looking.

I also checked the DT 800 Pro when I had to make a buying decision. They look really nice but have a very weak bass and I had the impression that there was a hole in the lows or low mids.
They are also open so not right for DJing.

Thanks, so I tried those ones and I didn't really like how quiet they were..

So what I am trying to decide is now between these:

Shure Americas | SRH940 Professional Reference Headphones

and the 770's.. I really like the 840s, I even tried $500 sennheisers and I still liked mine more, maybe I should just got with the 940s? Or is it just because the 880's were open and the 770s will be much better than the 940s?

Live/Travelling?
Get Sennheiser HD25 and some plastic box from the home appliances shop, to stick it in. You'll have headphones for the rest of your life (unless they're stolen).
I'm using a pair that I bought in 1997.
