Will the OBXa replace my Andromeda

We will have to see when she gets here and i am beyond psyched to get that beast in here. I use my moog voyager mostly for basslines and use the andromeda for pads and such. i feel a little guilty because i dont feel like i have spent enough time getting deep into the machine. What do you guys think?

Synth gear is:

Voyager Electric Blue, Andromeda A6, Juno 60, Virus TI Polar, soon to be OBXa

Check out this megathread, and then tell us what YOU think!

If you could trade your Andromeda for an OB-Xa, would you?

I sold my andromeda for an OB-8 and I'm glad I did - beautiful tone with more mod options, a triangle wave and 2 filters compared to the Xa

of course not. way too different basic tone, and obviously insanely different synth arhitecture/capabilities. i also use both and they happily coexist - when it comes to pads, A6 typically gets

classic dark pwm pads (reminiscent of discrete obies)
bandpass, almost cinematic ambient pads
complex stuff with two filter etc

OBXa otoh typically does things where filter is more open than A6, like

hi spacepad/strings with open filter/CEM sizzle
big polysynth with full open vcf but higher resonance settings
exception is its dark voxy pads (filter nearing self oscillation)
