Advanced vocal processing

When eqing pitched instruments, one of which is the vocal,
I sometimes notch out a certain problem frequency or dip certain
Freqs.

However when the singer changes pitch those freqs
Also change (logically). So besides using eq for
Overall shape and tone, do you also use some kind
Of multiband compression on pitched instruments?
Any tips or hints?

Many thanks.

I remember seeing a pitch-responsive EQ over on the New Product Alert page a week ago.

Also, try EQing all of the upper freq's of the harmonic series of the root of the song. (Assuming it's tonal music) Those upper overtones are often what we hear as problematic, assuming the singer is on pitch at the fundamental.

Voxengo GlissEQ is exactly what you need for this task... it's a dynamic EQ, meaning it will leave the frequencies untouched ordinarily, and only step down once the amplitude of the set frequency starts getting out of control.

It's an absolutely incredible plug-in.
