Whoah, that thing was 35 years before it's time. Do you know how much it sold for new?

The Novachord cost $1850 in 1939... which was a LOT!

1939: $1 = $15.666

So about $29,000 in today's dollars.

Considering how much skilled assembly labour is these days and the sheer number of hours required to build one of these monsters, I suspect it would work out at least 50% more again.

I added some more

Siel DK 600 and Expander, I don't think there are a lot of these still working. They're extremely unreliable.

Korg KPR-77 (warning: this is nasty)

Casio MT-68 with excessive multitracking

Yamaha VSS-200

I find this kind of stuff fascinating

The Inflation Calculator

What cost $1850 in 1939 would cost $28727.52 in 2010.
Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2010 and 1939,
they would cost you $1850 and $122.76 respectively.

I think the Multivox is a rebadged Firstman/Hillwood synth. Mostly they made second rate near-knockoffs of Roland gear. The neat part is that the founder Kazuo Morioka enlisted his 14 year old daughter to front a band, Cosmic Invention, to showcase their products. The result is impossibly cheesy music and some very rare gear spotting.

The album (Cosmorama) just got reissued. Some of the songs are, uh, sorta enjoyable.

There was a Wersi on ebay for $50, but sadly it was local pick up only.

Here's another for $350.

I never thought any demos of the PSS-50 did it justice. This by far the best one tho. I've used it a lot in my old days (got stolen at a show).. and still use it every so often(convinced friends to get one).

Just thought I'd post this.. it's the first record I ever actually finished/released.
First track is mainly PSS-50.. with some Crumar Orchestrator and a random Yamaha PSR/PSS FM goofy synth that can't remember the model number.. EDIT: forgot the main lead on the refrain is Arp AXXE.

It's been listed for months. You'd think someone would have figured out by now that it would actually sell if they'd ship it. Anyway the EX10R is the non-programmable model. It uses the same cartridges (some of which have pretty wild sounds), but other than that I think they're not a lot of fun.

Also I like that the Hard Rock I pattern on the Korg PSS-50 sounds like Neu! It's about time an auto accompaniment machine accommodate Krautrock.

I uploaded a few more. I need to record some new (better) ones, but I haven't had the time lately. These are old recordings.

It's useful to read the descriptions for these.
