Mackie 1620i Help needed

Hi Folks,

Im presuming this will be a basic problem and easily rectified but as this it my first piece of hardware fx im at a loss.

i got the unit yesterday and it looks and sounds amazing.
i have it hooked up to the aux send and i can hear what it has to offer in all its glory.

my issue is i cannot record any fx for some reason?
more so, my real concern is i could yesterday and i've not changed any settings since then on the mixer or the H3000.

any info on this is most welcome

Here's little more info, can anybody help?

i have set it up to my Mackie 1620i using one XLR to TRS in each direction as follows...
H3000 CHANNEL 1 IN TO AUX SEND 1
AUX RETURN TO H3000 CHANNEL 1 OUT

it works and i can hear the unit do its thing but i cannot record any fx into my DAW.
i know this is a very basic issue that im stuck on but with this being my first fx unit im a little puzzled where im going wrong?

any help is most appreciated!

Read the manual for the mixer.

Your post is a bit confusing tbh...
So it sounds like you have hooked it up correctly to your mixer and you can hear the mono return from the H3000 on your monitors...

You want to assign the aux return to a bus say 1-2 and then feed bus out 1-2 into the input of your soundcard- pretty basic stuff really, im sure you figured this out already?
Check the soundcard internal mixer to check see if you see a signal present at the input, also check your daw sequencer make sure you have armed the track you want to record/monitor to

Btw- why have you only hooked up one of the H3000 outputs to your mixer, you want to go mono into the H3000 and stereo out feeding two aux returns or channels on your mixer.

Thanks for the replies guys,

i have read the manual and spent a while looking online but im still struggling to get this working correctly.
followed the instructions to a tee and still no joy.
i have to admit i found the manual a little confusing mind.

a combination of dyslexia and lack of experience i guess!

joking aside. i'll get is sussed eventually, providing the mixer does'nt have a fault that is

inexperience mate, simple as.
do i use a similar XLR to TRS and come out of Channel 2 out or would it be best to use a Y Cable and keep things on Channel 1?

No worries. You dont really want to use a Y cable- thats for inserts.
You just want to plug a stereo jack into the aux send 1 from your mixer, plug the XLR on the other end into the H3000 Left input, now connect XLR out from H3000 Left channel output into your mixer aux return 1, connect H3000 right XLR out into Aux return 2 on your mixer.
Pan aux return 1 pot hard left, pan aux 2 hard right, and raise the level.
Now plug some synth into the line input of channel 1 of your mixer, turn up aux send 1 on that channel.. now do you hear something?

Thanks for the additional info Rob, i got a new lead this morning and hooked it up correctly.

got the mixer set up now as well, having the fx going to the returns and they only going the the stereo mix L/R bus meant i could'nt do as i intended.
with my mixer having an integrated soundcard i presumed it would work different to this but obviously not
got some great advice on the mackie forum explaining how it should be hooked up and what options i have.
