"Drive" Soundtrack, Synth heavy and great sound.

Has anyone out in GS land seen Drive yet? Great, fun film.

The soundtrack is full of some heavy synth driven tracks. Some very cool stuff and I was really enjoying the music throughout the film.
Kind of poppy indie stuff, but cool none the less.

Amazon.com: Drive (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack): Various Artists: Music

The movie is surely a throwback picture with tons of 80's themes right down to the fonts of the opening and closing credits.

The sound of the film was well thoughout and mixed great too.
It is rare to see a new movie where the director doesn't have backround noise, crappy music or non-stop nothing dialog.
The 1st gunshot just jars everyone in theater out of their chair.

It's great to see a film using audio so well and using a heavy synth based soundtrack.

Now if only John Carpenter would make another film with his 70's vintage synth score. I loved his stuff in Assault on Precinct 13.

I was reading up on the soundtrack a few weeks ago (after watching "Contagion" which has a GREAT score by the same composer), and apparently the Drive soundtrack was based around plugins, as opposed to vintage analogs. I guess it's all up to how you use things.

"Drive" Soundtrack, Synth heavy and great sound.

Not a big fan of the composer for this movie but I've never been a fan of movie music. I have the ost ad constantly skip this guys work.

That said, I love the kavinsky "night drive" intro track that was used.

Just to be clear, the actual soundtrack composer of the movie is this guy Cliff Martinez which I am also not a big fan of and may use plugins for all i know...

The interview i posted above is of Johnny Jewel, co-founder of synth-pop label Italians do it Better, i know from interviews he mainly uses vintage synths mostly analog. Only 3 songs of his appear in the soundtrack from his respective bands Desire, College & Chromatics..

The 2 hour soundcloud piece above is the soundtrack he wrote but that wasn't used for Drive, it's just been released now as Themes for an Imaginary Film, just thought some of you might enjoy it!

Speaking of Cliff Martinez , he did the soundtrack to the movie 'Solaris' .... There's one track call "First sleep" that's really good.

So they asked him to score a whole film and then didn't even use it?
