For the lulz; instant pop lyrics generator THE KESHANATOR... Profit!!!

Good day to all,

I present to you 'The Keshanator' (aka profit making machine ).

The Keshanator is an automatic song lyrics generator based on pre-populated generic catch phrases commonly found in pop songs.

A little background ...
The idea for this started off in a thread where someone had posted their music. Long time Gearslutz member Simonator (jokingly) suggested that someone should make a pop song lyrics generator since most pop songs these days seem to be just a collection of short random phrases party people can relate to.

Anyways this morning I decided to create a prototype of this profit making machine just for fun. So here it is, the first 'beta' release.

Technical note: I've tested this is the latest firefox, chrome and safari. There is no guarantee that it will work in other or old browsers. Also you must have javascript enabled.

Comment: If you have any suggestions/comments/etc post them here. Feel free to suggest other short phrases so we can expand the pool.

Disclaimer: This app does not guarantee profit, but it gets you damn close.

Acknowledgement: Simonator came up with the idea and provided most of the phrases used. atma added one phrase. Ericdestler started the thread in which this idea spawned.

Ok enough bla bla, go play with it yourself:
The Keshanator

(Yes, this is meant to be a joke)

LMAO ;-)

You are a legend!

Here is my first creation:

SATAN FELATIN'

verse
C'mon
I'm a gay fish
Pump it up
Sexy
Pump it up

chorus
Makin' love in da club
Feel the love
London to Ibiza
Tonight
Mazel tof
Pump it up

verse
Pump it up
Sexy
C'mon
Now is the time

bridge
Yeah
Get higher
I'm a gay fish
Get on the dance-floor

chorus
Makin' love in da club
Feel the love
London to Ibiza
Tonight
Mazel tof
Pump it up

break
Get higher
Everybody move
Pump it up

chorus
Makin' love in da club
Feel the love
London to Ibiza
Tonight
Mazel tof
Pump it up

Ha ha... it actually makes every bit as much sense as any modern pop song.

I think we are on to a winner here... You are going to save Lady Gaga literally minutes of work!

LOL! I don't listen to most modern stuff. I did suffer through the Black Eyed Peas at a Super Bowl Party last year. There has to be one of these for the BEP. Same type of crap lyrics.

Hilarious. I think Simon has a hit there.

LOL! Sounds like a hit to me.

If anyone thinks of any other short pop phrases post them here and I'll add them to the app's phrase pool. The bigger the pool -> the more variations -> the better the song -> the greater the profit.

here's a few phrase suggestions:

- ungh
- feel the beat
- throw your hands up
- baby baby
- work it
- touch my body
- the club is pumpin'
- just like that
- get your crunk on
- insert 'Scooter shout' here

Hey Simonator. I think it is your duty to record Satan Felatin'. The masses need to hear this.

Glad you guys like it!

Thanks for the new phrases. I'm a little tired now but I'll plug them in tomorrow. Better yet I'll try to move the phrases to a database so that people can add phrases directly in a kind of community phrase pool.

Other possible features for version 2:
  • Ability to pick the number of lines per section
  • Ability to pick the number of syllables per line
  • Enable rhyming (this might be tricky)
  • Chord progression generator (maybe?)
  • 'Slangify' feature which will translate normal english to slang (eg 'the' becomes 'da')

LOVE YOU LIKE A LOBSTER:

verse
Get on the dance-floor
Everybody move
C'mon
Pump it up
C'mon

bridge
Mazel tof
Your body
Pump it up
Your body

chorus
Gonna rock it
Get on the dance-floor

verse
Your body
Drink
London to Ibiza

break
Now is the time
Makin' love in da club

chorus
Gonna rock it
Get on the dance-floor

----------------

I think that's actually a useful gadget as a starting point for your pop lyrics

I called my track "Hipsters Tumbling" which I thought was insanely clever but the lyrics sucked :(

also the title needs to appear in the song somewhere to be pop surely.

and wtf does mazel tof mean.

slangify would be great if words get 'drizzled' like snoop does.

mazel toff becomes mazizzle tizzle or something... <hard i know

I think it's brilliant; it just needs more material fed to it.

Thanks for the feedback, can you elaborate on what doesn't work? Does nothing appear? Does the layout look weird? Or do the buttons not do anything?

Make sure you have javascript enabled otherwise nothing will work.

I will try to install an older version of firefox to test but I see no reason why it shouldn't work in firefox 3.x, although I haven't tested in windows yet..

UPDATE: I just tested it in Firefox 3.6.22 and it works fine. It looks rather ugly since there doesn't seem to be CSS3 support but all the functionality seems to work. I couldn't find a 3.6.12 to downloaded. Note that I tested on a Mac, but I don't think this should make a difference. I would recommend checking your javascript settings.

Good point. I will add a feature to randomly place the title in the chorus.

lol! Well the phrases in the app are all by Simonator so talk to him about that

Correct, the lyrics will only be as good (or as bad) as the amount of phrases in the pool. Right now there are only 19 phrases so the permutations are fairly limited. I'll try to setup a more dynamic system that allows users to input phrases directly. So the quality of the song lyrics will ultimately be in the hands of the end users

Ok folks keshanator v1.5 is here!

Updates:
- Moved the phrase pool to a database
- Added pool page so that anyone can add phrases to the pool
- Added a 30% chance that the song title will appear in the chorus

In the footer of the page you'll see a link that reads "Add a phrase to the pool!". This will bring you to a page where you can add your own phrases. Click here to go there now.

The phrase pool is now in a database so everyone has access to the same pool. There is no way for users to edit or remove phrases so please check for typos and spelling mistakes. This is now a community app so the lyrics will only be as good as the content you provide. I will periodically monitor the phrases and remove the ones that shouldn't be there.

Enjoy!

reguardless of your personal orientation, "I'm a gay fish" never seems to REALLY fit and pops up in both verses and choruses. I don't even know what that means.. hahahhaaha

and the number of lines changes from 3 to 6 randomly, 3 lines one verse, 6 the next. I guess no rules in music applys here.

Thanks though. Lots of fun mucking with it
