You just need a standard SPDT switch (on-none-on) wired to the 2/4 pole header. Nothing fancy, just 1:1 pinning

Altitude's work is top-notch. If you want the seriously value-added Mutable Instrument, this is the guy to talk to. Just look at the quality of his builds.... Awesome!

Hey Altitude, do you have any examples of racked Shruthi kits you've built? Was wondering how feasible it would be to have 1 or 2 Shruthi-1s in a 1 or 2U rack space kit (to make it easy to work with racked sequencers).

i'd have to take some measurements but it should be doable. should be reasonable labor wise if the control board will fit in a 2u height. if not, it would be a lot of work to transplant all the controls to the panel

The PCB is nigh on exactly 2U. Which doesn't really leave any space at all for fitting it inside a 2U case vertically.

yeah, confirmed. to make this work you would need to transplant all the controls. Doable, but time consuming

I found out about these things the other day. How long will you be making and selling them for? Do you make any of the sammich stuff? I'm a strange digital synth junkie but I wished there was a newer unit that had a decent filter on it, preferably analog and these things seem just the trick. I also live in the US and didn't want to ship a bunch of components from overseas. XD

I have obligations to purchase some furniture and the sampling unit for my k2500r but in about three weeks I will have funds if you'll still have some in stock.

Would it be possible to go 3U to save on cost/time? It would end up similar to the Shruthi x 3 you did but racked (so ideally jacks on the back)?

@ systematika

I'm just outside of Detroit, I'll be offering these as long as I can get boards from Mutable

@BaconTastesGood

It would help in the labor but the case will be steep either way. There really isnt a cheap one off custom rack case option.

Alright, thanks for the response. I'm just trying to figure out a way to get some rack mounted Shruthis that isn't going to be crazy expensive or like 8U tall =)

Another followup -- are these moddable to accept GATE IN and CV IN for pitch and filter?

No for pitch and gate, yes for filter. The internal CV is not of a useful range and there is no easy way of tapping into. There are 4 CV ins however (5v max) that can be assigned to anything you want parameter wise via the modulation matrix. I've made units with extra controls for these as soft pots and it works well

Ah, bummer, was hoping that I could drive one of these with an analog sequencer. I'm guessing the Ambika won't either?

if you're really savy, it is possible for the shrurhi with major modifications and a couple a modular modules. ambika is a poly synth so not worth even trying there. anshuri should be fine for that out of the box though

Are you going to be building any Ambikas or Anushris? Also, do you have a Web store somewhere or do you just do stuff through PM (related: do you keep built ones in stock?)

i'll be building both. anshuri will be out really soon, ambika probably by Xmas . i dont have a website right now, i just sell them through FS listings here and on some other sites.

i stock boards occasionally since i always order extras when i get stuff from france but those usually get built into units and sold right away. i prefer to build them to suite. i do try to stock cases since those are made in bulk and take longer than any other part

Don't mean to spelling rage on you, but it's anushri, not anshuri. The only reason it's an issue is because the first time you mentioned it I googled the wrong name and it took me a while to figure out what was wrong

What's your turnaround time? I have some money burning a hole in my PayPal account and the last Shruthi-1s on eBay are already sold and gone.
