Thread Starter | logical chain for using outboard effects
2 quick question- Should you hit the outboard effects signal with the preamp again on it's way in? Should you be running the signal through the ad/da conversion twice? If you do, does that degrade the signal? Thanks |

The output of most effects units is line level so you should not go back in through a mic preamp. One possible exception is if you are re-amping a signal and capturing it on a mic... The common wisdom is that it is not a good idea to put a signal through too many da/ad conversions, but if you have outboard without digital I/O, putting it through one extra conversion is not too bad and is usually worth it.
